Chapter 3 - Sam

[Girl]

A teenage girl about 18 was searching a nearby area till she heard a commotion up ahead near an abandoned building. As she crept closer to the building, she noticed a body bleeding out upon the clearing out front.

She hides in a bush nearby, just if the killer is still around. After she deduces that he is gone, she tells herself that he must have moved on. As she steps out of the bush, she's yelling, "Ouch." She stubbed her toe on a metal object. She reached down to find it was the very sword the Samurai knocked out of Dr. Stevens's hands. She picks it up and ties it to her waist. She walks up to the body and notices the man is dead and is missing his dog tag. After inspecting all of his pockets, she is just left with disappointment.

Out of the corner of her eye, she notices a blood trail leading into the building with a lot of foot traffic going in and out. Instead of going to the entrance, she decides to just peak in through the front window to see if the coast is clear. When she looks through the window, she sees a past Kid about her age in the corner bleeding from his arm.

As she walks inside, she looks around and goes over to the boy. Upon inspection, she sees he is still alive. Although dog tags are valuable, Sam talks herself out of taking the Kid's tag. She does decide to search for him. Reaching down, she sees something sticking out of his pocket. She reaches down and pulls a picture out of his shirt front pocket. It's a Picture of a Cop and his partner. She flips it over and sees something written on the back. It reads, "Wish I could see you more, Love Dad."

After reading the picture, she decides to put it back and leave the Kid alone. The more she looked at him, the more she started to feel guilty. She ripped her shirt and started to bandage his arm.

When his arm was cleaned, she stood up and started thinking if she should just leave him like this. Then she hears a sound outside. Barely peeking out the window, she sees a tall man with a mask standing over the body outside with a scythe in hand.

The scythe looked like it was crafted from a broom handle and a piece of metal. His all-black attire and mask hid his face and body well. She ducked her head as the figure looked her way. She knew she had to do something fast. So she took a water bottle out of her pouch and placed it next to the boy. Then she scribbled something on the concrete with a rock from her bag. She then got up and walked over to the entrance.

The figure was stabbing the body outside for fun with his scythe. She was mortified at the psychopath but knew she needed to make a flashy exit to pull the guy away to keep the Kid safe. She stood up and faced the man and yelled to him, "Oh my, what a big scary man." She laughed as she took off running. The figure of a man was frustrated. He pulled his scythe out of the body and chased after the Girl. Running away, she told herself, "You owe me one."

[The Kid]

As the Kid came to that afternoon, he looked down at his forearm bleeding earlier and saw it was bandaged up with a rag of some sort. He started to remember what happened right before he was knocked out.

He first watched Dr. Stevens die, then he enticed the killer to fight him. Thinking back on it now, it wasn't such a bright idea.

Then he remembered trying to get away and ran back to the building only to be corned. Looking down at his arm again, he doubted the Samurai killer bandaged him, but why did he leave him alive, he wondered.

Moving his good arm, he knocked over a bottle of water next to him. Being two days of no water, his parchedness overtook him, and he started chugging the water, only to choke on it and spit some out. Then he finished the bottle on his second attempt. He wiped away the wetness from his mouth with his bandaged arm.

Shifting himself up against the wall to a sitting position, he noticed the sun was going down. "It must be late in the day," he thought. Remembering Dr. Stevens is still outside, he's like I need to do something for him. He took care of me all this time. As he was getting up to bury Dr. Stevens's body, the Kid looked down and read the scribbled writing on the ground.

"You owe Sam."

"Who is Sam?" he wondered. As he pondered on the writing, he made his way to the opening of the building to see the mutilated body of Dr. Stevens, a setting sun, and a wooded area he was not familiar with.
