Chapter 9

Benn had to rub his eyes twice when he saw Kylian watching the crowd with a hearty smile, he seemed like a father watching his children overcome an obstacle. For once he looked contended.

"They are here." Kylian spoke his expressions darkening again "Stay here", Benn could see he was his usual self again.

Benn turned his head, fifteen men walked towards the crowd. Men all indistinguishable from his distance, long hair, shabby beards, dirty uniforms, and each holding a sword. Benn had to admit they looked intimidating but somehow the villagers were unfazed, they stared right at them.

"Kylian will they be fine ?" Benn asked with a worried expression.

*No reply*

"Kylian, I think you should help them..... Kylian ?" there was no one. Benn looked around, he couldn't spot Kylian anywhere. Was he seeing things ? It was possible, his eyes had seen too much today.

A young man in his early thirties shouted his lungs out and raised his spade, followed by the rest of the crowd.

Benn's expression's soured, he realized he had been missing something, something significant.

Their weapons were useless spades, plows, wooden legs of cots. 'Is that a boot? Out of all the things a Boot seriously? Had I known earlier I wouldn't have panicked so much, fools all fools.'

But there was no stopping them now, both the groups were already walking towards each other with steady steps.

When both the group were just twenty strides away, two of the soldiers abruptly fell to the ground, knives sticking out from their backs.

The soldiers all turned, only to find a young man staring right at them, with a blade clenched in his hand.

He was none other than Kylian.

Their leader Boris looked at Kylian with an ugly expression and muttered something, and in the next moment, all the soldiers were charging towards the villagers ignoring Kylian.

Kylian twitched, he had not expected them to ignore a single person and advance against a crowd twice their size. He instantly hurled the two knives catching two more soldiers. Unsheathing his sword he dashed towards the enemies who by then had engaged the villagers. Kylian could feel the heat running through his body, he felt good for what was to come.

Kylian pounced at his first target and slashed the nape of his turned enemy. The soldier turned in shock, desperately trying to stop the gushing blood with his free hand. He looked at Kylian with terror, he was just about to make an attack on Kylain when a plow slammed down on his head. Kylian could feel his body burn with excitement as he saw the crushed head of the enemy.

Kylian then hysterically looked around for his next target. He spotted two soldiers a few strides away, their swords bloodied, an old villager lying just beneath them, a large mass missing from his abdomen, barely alive. Kylian rushed and kicked one of them away and aimed for the chest of the other one simultaneously. The soldier got somehow lucky. He tumbled on the old man's leg and fell, missing Kylian's blade. Kylian looked at the old man frantically he wasn't himself. His eyes filled with rage on missing his target.

Without a second through Kylian shoved his sword through the old villager. The old man instantly died, his eyes still wide with shock.

He then shifted his gaze towards the fallen soldier, who was staring at Kylain. The soldier was left aghast by the madness he just witnessed. The soldier crawled back pleading, but Kylian was here for blood. Kylian thrusted his sword through the soldier's throat. The soldier trembled violently, like a fish outside water. Kylian pulled out his sword not even glancing at his kill, his eyes searching for his next prey, someone, anyone. He felt so good.

Kylian's sword clanged as he blocked a sword aimed at his back. There was nothing that could touch him when he was felt like this, everything seems slow to his eyes.

Kylian hastily turned to face his attacker. The soldier tried again, but even before he could realize Kylian was beside him, his sword right through the soldier's heart.

Boris looked around, they were losing. The ground was littered with bodies of his soldiers. These villagers couldn't have done it. There were blade marks, then his eyes fell on the boy who was looking around hysterically, his blade bloodied . Had he made a wrong choice in not killing the boy first ?

Boris twitched, he would make it right now.

"I challenge you to a duel." Boris shouted out aloud, his voice echoed as he stood there pointing his sword towards Kylian through the crowd.

There was nothing as duels in a battle, the villages gave a deaf ear to boris and contined.

"Stopp" Kylian spoke aloud. His voice hoarser.

Everyone stopped, their eyes jumping from Kylian to Boris.

With a tilted head Kylian stared at him.

"Whosoever win the othe-" Boris paused as he saw Kylian walk towards him with heavy steps. His sword dangling loosely from his hand touching the ground, leaving a bloody trail behind him.

Everyone quickly moved to a side.

Boris hefted his sword ready for the battle. Kylian walked to him wide open his sword still not raised.

"You dare mock me kid" Boris shouted and attacked Kylian with a forward thrust.

The villager gasped, as they saw the sword almost cut Kylian. But at the very last moment, Kylian stepped aside swiftly.

His opponent was slow, especially when Kylian was feeling so complete.

The villagers fell in a burst of cheering.

Boris looked at Kylian in disbelief, he hasn't seen someone move in such a way or in case no one there had.

"Duel" Kylian threw his sword to a side.

The crowd felt silent looking around at each other, unsure what to do.

The big man twitched.

"You just lucky boy." He threw his sword to a side too, how could he let a kid mock him in front of the villagers. With a smile on his face, Boris taunted Kylian challenging him to come at him. A really wrong move when Kylian was feeling so good.

Kylian moved with an inhuman speed, Boris's hand was not even down yet when a punch landed on his face. The punch was too quick, it felt like a thunder strike on his face, his body started to fall freely. Kylian caught Boris's uniform midfall he was keen not to let go of his prey so easily. Pulling Boris towards himself Kylain landed two more punches, heavier and faster than the previous one.

The crowd burst into cheers and laughter. Blinded by revenge the sight felt sweet to them. On the other hand, the remaining soldiers were left aghast, too afraid to even move.

On a corner Benn stood, his mouth slacked open. His eyes were on Kylian it had been on him this whole time. He saw how Kylain was loving each and every kill. Benn saw him drive his blade through the old villager and how famished he looked, demanding more. He saw Kylian was not being himself or he was and earlier he wasn't, he saw what no one could he saw him suffering.

"....He got worse..."

"I also...." Benn blinked his large eyes twice, " 'Hodor" he turned around to find the giant standing a couple of steps behind him. His pinkish eyes on the battle, sharp as usual. Behind 'Hodor, Benn could see two horses tied.

The cheering was long gone, smiling faces turned into panicked.

Kylian was still punching Boris with slow but heavy punches. There was nothing left of the face just a bloody lump hanging loosely through the neck. Boris was long dead.

The remaining soldiers were in a worse state unfitting for people who looked tough, savage. A couple of them had even leaked themselves at the gruesome sight.

No one moved an inch, afraid of being noticed by Kylian..

"Shouldn't we stop him..... ?" Benn whispered, looking away from the gruesome sight.

"...No..."

"Huh...but why ?" Benn asked in disbelief, he could still hear the pounding in the background.

"...He stop..... himself....."

"What if he does not ? How can you be so sure."

"...I see..... red light away..." 'Hodor spoke in his usual manner, slow and thoughtful.

"What light are you talking about. Have you gone insane too ?" Benn lashed out, he was out of patience, previous to this day he had even avoided slaughter house but now he was seeing blood flowing like water and Bodies falling like petals- innocent guilty alike.

"…Look…." 'Hodor pointed his finger towards Kylian, who let go Boris, his eyes looking at his bloodied knuckles, his eyes in disbelief but he masked it pretty well.

With saddened eyes Kylian looked around, every head bent in horror and disgust, he could hear them screaming at him, cursing him. Everyone thought of him as a monster he knew it.

"....Kylian.... friend...."

Kylian shifted his gaze, and so did everyone. It did not take long for anyone to spot 'Hodor. He could hear the crowd chatting in muffled voices it was their first time seeing a Jeyan and 'Hodor was an oddity even among his own.

Kylian sighed inwardly in relief to see a familiar face, a face not afraid to look at him. He walked up to 'Hodor, he could see a warm subtle smile on the giant's face from up close,- "Take care of the remaining ones, I need some rest." Kylian spoke hesitantly, looking back at the mess he had just made.

"....Don't worry.....go rest...." with his gigantic hands 'Hodor gently patted his shoulder.

"Thank you.... 'friend' " Kylian whispered more to himself than to 'Hodor.

Just giving a slight Glance at Benjamin, he left and settled in the further most hut of the village he could find.
