They all turned to look at me as they all had heard the noise. "So there's another one?" "That makes... 16, right?" "I believe introduc-" The TV turned on a annoying voice came out "Not so fast kiddos! You haven't even meet your host for your winter getaway yet! Please make your way to the main entrance to see all our amazing activities our equally amazing host has lined up for you!" The TV then turned off. We all stood there for a moment dumbfounded. A few moments later the first one to move to leave was a boy with black hair that has multiple streaks of red, purple and blue. He's wearing a dark grey dress shirt with a brown leather jacket with a silver spikes on the shoulders and black pants with a silver chain hanging from two of his belt loops. As he opened the door to leave he turned back to us and said "Well, Am I the only one going?". He left promptly but apparently it caused something to stir in the girl with pretty long white hair and green eyes as she followed behind him as though he'd stolen something from her. Everyone slowly filed out of the room leaving me alone as I try to get the facts of our seemingly shared situation together. I look at the camera in the corner of the room. Security for this 'winter getaway'? Unlikely they would try to keep them more hidden and definitely wouldn't be in the lodgings. I look at the TV the voice came from. It seemed to be a normal TV aside from the fact that there's no remote to be found. Nothing else seemed to be of note. While I was making my way out of the room to search for this main entrance, I noticed an unknown weight in my pocket. I fished it out hoping that it was my phone. Sadly my hopes didn't come true as it was a tablet. Still something I could possibly use to contact the outside. I turn it on to see 'Izanami Kuroki' pop up on screen. It then shows multiple options. Guests, Me, Evidence, Monokuma file, and Map. I clicked on the Me option. It showed much of my information. Way too much in my opinion. Seriously where the hell did they get my measurements? I see at the bottom two options to set my pronouns and whether I want to hide my talent from my fellow 'guests' or not. I quickly set my pronouns as she/her and then stopped to think about whether or not to show my talent. I think about the times where people looked at me funny. Even if they didn't think I realized it. I want my fellow victims of this to know me before they lose all respect for me. I hide my talent. I don't look into the other 'guests' because I don't want to invade any of their privacy. I then go back to try to press the other 2 options but they don't work. After that I go to catch up with the others. I find that I'm the last one to enter once again. It's not surprising considering that I got quite distracted earlier. I make it to the the front entrance to see some of the others trying to open the door and windows by any means necessary. It looks like a normal lobby. As I walked it a short blonde girl called out "What took you so long?" at me. I moved to pull out the tablet I had found but I was interrupted by a black and white bear with a weird red eye. It had just popped up from up over a receptionist desk. "Welcome guests!" That got everyone's attention. Everyone including me turned to look at the bear. "Now as your lovely host Monokuma" the bear pointed to himself "I'll explain the rule and the activities we have available for your indefinite stay." A girl with black hair in a pixie cut voiced my own thoughts "Wait indefinite? I don't remember signing up for a stay here in the first place much less an indefinite one." Many sounds of agreement rang out from around the room. I stayed quiet. I tuned most of the conversations out. I was too busy thinking about my mother. My mother is extremely sick. Who's going to pay her hospital bill while I'm stuck here? What if mom dies alone while I'm here? I get pulled out of my thoughts as the 'Host' starts speaking again. "So ungrateful you youngsters are! I put all this effort into giving you all a vacation on behalf of Hope's Peak and you already want out? Before even hearing about all the great activities I have planned? However luckily for those of you that still want to leave, there is one way to leave." Everyone besides three people immediately perked up at the words 'a way to leave', myself included. "That got all of your short attention spans! Now then the only way to leave is to be kicked out by disturbing the peace." A boy wearing black mask with a toothy red smile on it spoke up next. "What's the catch? What do I have to do to 'disturb the peace'" "Oh why it's something quite a few of you are familiar with. It's getting away with murder!" So some people here have gotten away with murder that puts me and everyone else at a disadvantage. Our best bet would be staying in groups of at least 3. Wait. As I looked around the room I noticed quite a few familiar faces. We have quite a few famous people here. My eyes zero in on one in particular. The ultimate Idol who was supposed to preform today. Surely his absence will be noticed. Which means people will be rioting for him back. If someone points that out we might be able to avoid any killings till either help arrives or belief in it is lost. I've gotten lost in thought again. "Slashing, suffocation, cutting, bashing, cursing, maybe even some igniting? Anything goes!" I watched as the bear got increasingly excited as he listed possible ways to kill. It was disturbing to hear someone talking about it so cheerfully. "Anyway now that I have gotten that out of the way let's talk about what amazing activities you can all take part in. However a couple of places are sadly still being renovated. We apologize for the inconvenience. You will be able to see all we have on the map in your E-Guidebooks. Also don't get any bright ideas about trying to use them to contact the outside world. If you even try you'll be shot on sight." Why does this feel familiar? Not in the way that I personally have done this before but in the way that I've seen this happen before. This whole situation feels that way. "Now that I have gotten that out of the way. Let's go over some rules:
1: Guests can not leave unless they are unfit to continue their vacation.
2: Nighttime is from 10pm to 7am. Some activities are unavailable at this time.
3: Sleeping anywhere but the lodgings is prohibited and will result in being shot on sight.
4: The Resort is free to be explored. Have Fun!
5: Violence against your Host Monokuma is strictly prohibited.
6: Anyone that kills a fellow Guest and becomes "blackened" will leave, unless they are discovered.
7: The Host can add or change any rules as they see fit.
These rules will also be put into your E-Guidebook. Now than toddles!" I watched as the bear disappeared back under the receptionist desk. It was silent for a moment everyone seemingly gathering their thoughts about the situation. "Nope. I'm going to sleep and wake up from this nightmare in the morning." Said a girl in a softball uniform. She moved to leave but another girl in a uniform that resembled a burgundy suit stopped her. "Don't go yet we still need to discuss some things as a group." She gave me a glare as she continued. "Like how Ms. Izanami Kuroki already had her talent already hidden in the E-Guidebook. How about you explain how you knew about the E-Guidebook and why did you hide your Ultimate?" I could tell what she was trying to do. She was trying to put everyone's eyes on me as a common enemy. "It's simple, after we all met in the lounge area and the announcement that called us here went off, I noticed a weight in my jacket pocket. I thought it was my phone at first and pulled it out hoping to call to police or any kind of help. It turned out not to be my phone and instead the E-Guidebook. I turned it on hoping that maybe it could at least contact the outside world." I was cut off by a black haired boy wearing a black mask with a red toothy grin on it. "That's completely fair but did you look at anyone else's profile?" There was some concealed worry in his voice. "No I did not. I wouldn't want anyone to look at my talent without permission." I turn to look at the girl that started this. "So I didn't want to do that to anyone else." The boy visibly relaxed a bit. People still looked at me with suspicion but it wasn't as much as when the girl with the pixie cut and the burgundy uniform pointed me out. Another boy with dark blue hair and glasses continued the conversation. "Now that that is out of the way we should give introductions like we were before Monokuma interrupted us. As a show of good faith I'll go first. "I'm Daisuke Miyamoto the Ultimate Butler. It's a pleasure to meet you." Now that he had mentioned it his uniform did kind of look like that of a butler. The next was the pixie cut girl. "My name is Azuha Kaneko. I'm called the Ultimate Critic. Nothing escapes my notice." She stared at me as she said the last part. Seriously what is her problem with me. I ignore it to the best of my ability as the next boy introduces himself. He had purple hair and bright green eyes with circle glasses covering them. He wore a normal uniform but with his jacket tied around his waist. "I'm sure you'll all know me when you hear my name but I'm Hayate Hoshino The Ultimate Voice Actor. I'm also know as the the man of a thousand voices." I recognize his name from the credits of some anime I've watched as well as people online getting obsessive over the characters he plays. The next was the girl that was trying to leave earlier. "Um I'm Chika Hirano. I'm the Ultimate Softball Star. I just want to wake up from this nightmare already." The girl seemed anxious about the situation. Not that I can blame her. We're in a killing game after all. Next up is girl that looks like the main character of a magical girl anime. I could recognize the weird uniform as Starry Sky Middle School's. They only took the best in the art world. Many of them go on to be ultimates. I'm pretty sure everyone here knew her or at least knew of her. It would be kind of hard not to when she was on TV so much. "I'm sure you all know me but for fairness sake I'm Hoshi Maki. I'm the Ultimate Actress. I wish we could've met under better circumstances." She seems nice. The next was a boy also in the Starry Sky Middle School uniform. I'm not entirely sure who he is though. "I'm the ultimate Author, Fumihito Sasaki." Wait didn't he write that one series about the Grim Reaper falling in love with a human or something? Mom likes it... I push the thought out my head. I can't focus on that right now. It will just push me to do something I'll regret. While I was 2 girls took their turns at the same time. One seemed rather cheerful despite the situation but the other was clearly the opposite. The cheerful one was the almost dragging the other by the hand as she introduced them. "I'm Aiko Amano! I'm the ultimate Lucky student this year! The grump here is Fuyuko Kurosawa. She doesn't want to talk about her talent yet!" "Wai-" Aiko than dragged Fuyuko to sit back down with her. The next was a boy with longish light pink unkempt hair that covered half of his face. "I'm... Hiroto... Inoue... I'm called... the ultimate Puppeteer" he wore a long hoodie over a normal male middle school uniform. He was rather quiet. The next was the pretty girl with white hair and bluish green eyes. "My name is Keiko Yukimura but I would prefer if you never call me by my family name. I have been given the title of ultimate Ice Skater." There's probably a story behind that. We made eye contact briefly but I looked away quickly not wanting to seem like I was staring. I sat waiting for the next to take their turn. The next was a taller dark blue haired boy with a school uniform that had been clearly modified to be appear more formal along with a small top hat. "It's a pleasure to meet you all. I'm the ultimate Butler, Daisuke Miyamoto. I hope I can be of service to you all." He than moved back to take his seat. The next was the boy with black mask with the sharp red smile. "Katsuhito Muto is my name and that's all you need to know." He than sat back down and glared at everyone else. "Well then... I'm Akihito Yamamoto and I don't feel comfortable talking about what my talent is." He was actually the only one here not wearing a uniform. Instead he was wearing a white shirt underneath an army green jacket and a pair of black pants.
He went back to his seat. The next was the guy from before with dyed hair and a spiked jacket. "I'm Daigo Saitou. I'm the ultimate Private Investigator. That's all." He went back to sit down. The next was a smaller girl with blonde hair in pigtails and brown eyes. She seemed to be wearing an outfit similar to an acrobat. "Well I'm the ultimate Acrobat. My name is Asuka Hidaka." The last of us to introduce himself really didn't need to. He's the ultimate Idol Akira Imai. "I'm Akira Imai... please don't mention my talent unless it's absolutely necessary. I just want to be treated like everyone else." So that's everyone. "So now that we somewhat know who eachother are, where do we go from here?" It came out of my mouth before I could think. People looked towards me. Azuha stared daggers at me with her lilac eyes. "We wait for help. Unless you're so eager to kill." I flinched at the hostility. "Of course not but still whoever brought us here to kill eachother clearly has to have some plan. Probably including what they would do if law enforcement came for us. Meaning we should at least try to find out what that plan is so we can defeat the someone behind this." The only ones that actually seemed to take me serious were Daigo, Katsuhito, Akihito, Keiko, and Fuyuko. Daigo took the lead and said "How about we search the cabin in groups of 4 and meet back here in the lobby to discuss our findings." Everyone agreed including myself. Our teams were:
Keiko, Daigo, Katsuhito and Me
Azuha, Chika, Daisuke and Akira
Aiko, Fuyuko, Akihito and Hoshi
Hayate, Fumihito, Hiroto and Asuka
We started investigating right there in the lobby. It was a rather typical lobby. I first looked at the camera. It's large and clashes with design of the rest of this place. It almost looks like one of those cameras I've seen while on tv. I then look at the couches. They are pure white. That'll probably stain really easily. As I was looking at them I got reminded of a memory. Myself at the age of 10 was stuck frozen staring at a corpse in my living room. My mother trying to frantically pull me out of the door. The attacker continuing to stab the corpse. I pull myself out of my thoughts. Now is not the time to think about it. I could see that there were supposed to be doors and windows here but now it was covered in steal which was familiar to what was on tv 4 years ago. It's not like it could be missed. It's all that played after all. I remember watching in fear with my mother. It doesn't matter now stop thinking about it. I put my attention onto the situation in front of me again. I approach Katsuhito and Keiko as they were trying to break down. "It's no use. Whatever it's made of isn't going to break anytime soon." Said Katsuhito his dark blue eyes staring in anger and annoyance at the doors. Keiko sighed muttering something that sounded like a threat to whoever is keeping us here. "It really is like that." She said. So the doors are no use but that's not a surprise. It would be too easy if it was. "Maybe it's like the first killing game and we have to find the mastermind before we can escape?" They both seem to think about it. Keiko snapped us both from our thoughts. "Either way standing here trying to beak a door we can't break isn't going to help." "Okay then let's talk about something else. Izanami did you notice anything besides the E-Guidebooks?" I thought for a moment. "The camera's don't fit this place's style very well. Meaning that they probably weren't originally here. Implying that the mastermind probably took control of this place sometime after it was built." I stay quiet for a moment deciding whether or not to tell them about my surprise haircut. "Also my hair wasn't this short when I got to Hope's Peak. I assume the mastermind didn't cut it for fun." I don't know why but I felt that they needed to know. From both of my statements along with the killing game game before us I'm sure they can assume what I think happened. "A pretty good theory but that might be what the Mastermind simply wants us to think." Daigo said inserting himself into the conversation. We spent a while discussing before it was time for the others to show back up. In the meeting we discovered that the there is a cafeteria that gets restocked daily, a locked door under some stairs that lead to the locked away rooms for the second floor lodgings, the amnesia theory, and that our lodging are all sound proof aside from the door. Afterwards we decided we should try to go to bed and hope this is all a terrible nightmare. I ended up staying up all night watching every shadow. Almost waiting for one of them to move.
-Makoto Neagi-
It was supposed to be a trip with all the students to celebrate 2 years of the school being opened but then while the first set of students were already at the resort the staff's private plane crashed. Monokuma of course had to show back up. The monitors showed that another killing game has started. Only this time it was our students.
