A Parting Song

The foot bones were missing from the leg bones sticking out of the debris, so Afena took a knee bone, which were much smaller and easier to manage than the bigger leg ones.

"Quite personal, and used every day," she thought. "This should be enough to contact you, Nadia."

The skeleton was unresponsive, of course, but Afena could imagine the ghost acting up. It had been two days since Irimena stabbed herself in the stomach, and she and Krenen had already started getting dark emotions, which engendered dark thoughts.

"And I'm only assuming it was you," Afena said, "because in truth, any Inarenta died an unfair death."

She left the room to go back to Irimena's, where Krenen sat by the bed, watching over the unconscious girl.

"Is this what was happening to her?" Krenen asked with an edge on his voice.

"Yes, exactly this," answered Afena.

He let out a tired sigh. "Poor girl. No wonder she was so..."

"Erratic?"
