Prologue

[ Diarmuid pov ]

I look at the person in front of me. My sharp eyes take an instance to register who it is, a boy by no means older than 18 is standing in front of me. His golden hair moves with the breeze while his expression remains stoic, gloves with strange patterns covering his hands. I can see in his red eyes a gleam of happiness and recognition... strange.

"I ask you... are you my master?" I ask.

"Yes, I am. Would I be correct in assuming you are Diarmuid Ua Duibhne?" he asks.

"Indeed, but I can see you already knew who I am." I say, hopefully I will get to know why he seemed to recognise me.

"You are right, I already knew it was you, but I thought it would be appropriate to ask you for confirmation just in case. I am Dio Salvatore, heir to house Salvatore and the one who summoned you." he said while showing the command spells on his hand.

"I see... in that case it is a pleasure to meet you, master." I say while putting left hand in my chest and doing a small bow. Hopefully my dream will come true, hopefully he will be a master I can serve, someone for whom I can fight.

"The pleasure is all mine, Lancer." he says with a smile on his face.

"May I ask why you seem so happy about master?" I ask. It is a bit strange watching someone so happy to meet me. Could he be a fan or something of the like? But I am a failed knight...

"Well what is there not to be happy about, Lancer? I had to go through some trouble to summon you, trouble which will result in this war being harder for us, yet the result has been achieved. I got you just as planned." he answers with a smile on his face.

"I see, in that case I apologise for the trouble master. Now... may I ask something else before we continue?"

"Sure, go ahead."

"What is wrong with my body?" I ask while clenching my fist a couple of times, testing my strength. "And more importantly... what is this thing embedded in my chest? No offence but it feels disgusting." I say.

I noticed when I was summoned something wrong and all it took was a few seconds to accurately pinpoint the reason for it. The thing embedded on my chest, which feels both alive and dead. It keeps pumping mana into me. I can also feel something wrong with the eye above the spot of my right cheek.

"Well, your body is from a homunculus I designed and made myself. It took me a couple of years to actually gather all the materials but I succeeded in the end. As for what is embedded in your chest... you can call it a philosopher's stone.

It is merely an incomplete version of it unfortunately, but it should help you greatly. As for the reason why it feels so disgusting is because of the souls it contains. Those should will die in your stead should you be fatally wounded as well as continuously supply you with mana. There is a lot more behind that, but we can cover it with time."

"..."

"Sigh, I understand why you would react poorly to that, they are basically being tortured in there while the energy of their souls is harvested and converted into mana for you, but they were all my enemies. They all feared their fangs at me, so I took those fangs away and sharpened them into swords for myself."

"Hmm, I see. In that case from this day until I place the grail in your hands, I shall point my spear at those who bear their fangs at you, I shall be the sword that slays what stands in your way and the shield that guards your back." I say, putting a knew on the floor. I shall win this war for him and give him the Grail.

I shall fulfil my wish and regain my pride as a knight by giving him that for which he fights.

I see a smile greater than the one he had before form on his face.

"Very well, then I swear from this day until the day you give me the Grail I shall ask of you nothing that will bring you dishonour, I will not doubt your loyalty nor will I question your code." he said, bringing a smile to my face as well.

Author note:

Quite edgy and cringe, but then again this is Fate so anything other than that would not make sense.
