The so-called marriage 3

That year, Arnold Johnson was betrayed by someone close to him and was targeted by his enemies. Samuel Johnson, Chloe's father, saved his life by taking a bullet for him.

If it wasn't for Samuel taking that bullet, maybe Arnold would have died, though it is also possible that he wouldn't have.

When Samuel was shot, he was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. He didn't die immediately, but his chances of surviving were only one in ten thousand – in other words, a certainty of death.

Though the bullet didn't hit Samuel's vital organs, it triggered an old wound, and because of a time delay, the gunshot wound was infected. As a result, Samuel had only a few days to live.

Arnold was extremely grateful for Samuel saving his life. Samuel had two daughters and had lost his wife not long after his younger daughter was born. Over the years, although there had been women in Samuel's life, he had never remarried.
