Mia Garcia's unbearable pain 4

The mother and daughter stood there in opposition.

After a while, Clara Brown was the first to break the silence, "Mia, you don't have to hate me this much. I'm burning my bridges here, all for our future."

As Clara started talking, Mia Garcia found her words to be ludicrous. She'd heard these words from her mother countless times, but none made her as nauseous as today's conversation did.

"Why do you help Ethan Lee treat me this way? You know I cannot accept it, you know I detest it. Yet you claim it's for my sake, for our mutual benefit. Have you ever considered whether I need or accept your definition of 'benefit'?" Mia spit out the words with harsh undertones.

Clara could understand Mia's sentiment, but wasn't she, as the mother, also in pain? Did she want things to turn out this way?
