183: Komoda Gym Opening

After several hours of lengthy conversation with the mayor and principal, Hisoka bid them farewell and exited the building with Yukimura. They got in the car and drove to his new gym.

A little while later, a car was seen driving along the coast of Komoda City. His new gym was located on an island connected by bridges.

Just before noon, a large building resembling the world-famous Staples Center greeted them as they pulled into a parking lot.

According to the mayor, this gym was built by the previous gym leader but ended up being caught before he even set foot in it.

"How is it? Are you satisfied?"

Right now, Yukimura was taking him on a tour inside the gym.

"Yes."

He looked around and gave a satisfied nod.

The gym was close to the beach and had a loft where he could stay. The facilities were excellent and appeared to be in good working order. He can even move in right away; he just needed to buy a few more pieces of furniture first. Behind the gym, there was also a tract of land where his Pokemon could train and hang out.

"I'm glad to hear that. Alright, I think I'm going to leave now. Are you going to be okay by yourself?"

Yukimura asked.

"I'll be fine."

He replied.

"Cool. I left the key at the front and if you have any problems, just give the mayor a call. I'm sure they will help you. Oh, and you have a month to prepare before the gym opens, so make sure you're ready by then. Goodbye."

Before Yukimura left, he also presented him with his newly designed gym badge—an oval badge in black with a gold H in the centre, showing his identity as a hunter. Unlike the Boulder Badge, which took the form of a boulder, or the Cascade Badge, which took the form of a water drop, this badge gave no indication as to the type of Pokemon in which he specialised in. That's because his gym didn't specialise in any type.

After sending Yukimura off, he shut the door and went to the arena to let all of his Pokemon out, except Onix, for obvious reasons. The dude was as big as a tractor and as tall as two houses put together. He was too big to stay inside the gym.

Telling his Pokemon not to mess around, he called Gardevoir to help him unpack all of his stuff. Sometime later in the evening, a truck came and dropped his stuff from his old gym, including Ran. She was going to stay with him to train. There was still a month left before her assessment as the next Dark City gym leader.

Speaking of Dark Gym, he closed it for a month and left the gym and Pokemon in the care of the three kids and the old referee.

Time went on, and before long, a month had gone by. Ran had already left yesterday, and right now, the new referee and a few other people were busy putting the finishing touches on his new gym. There would be a short ceremony in a few hours before the gym opening.

The new referee used to work with the previous gym leader and had lost his job after the gym leader was caught. After determining that there was no problem with the man, he decided to hire him as his referee, which the man was grateful for.

The rest were his assistants and most of them around ten years old. Thanks to Principal's Simon's assistance, he was able to recruit the students from the academy. The students would take turn to help out at his gym since there was no way he could run this gym alone. Giselle was among them too. Though, he thought she was likely here to get closer to Ralts.

"Komoda City Gym is now open!"

After Mayor Bruce cut the ribbon, the excited crowd flooded into the gym. Only a small number of people made their way to the seating area. Most of the crowd left to form a line to challenge him. Seeing how the poor front desk girl was being swamped by the crowd, he decided to put a stop to it before a fight broke out.

He took Rhyperior out and motioned him to the crowd, to which Ryperior replied with an ok sign. Then, Rhyperior took a deep breath and let out a loud roar that resounded throughout the gym.

A moment of silence ensued as all eyes turned to the towering Rhyperior next to Hisoka. Once everyone settled down, Hisoka began to speak. He told everyone that he would only accept ten people today and they must have six badges or more.

No one dared to cause a commotion with Rhyperior around, and the crowd gradually thinned out.

When the sky turned dark, he sank into his chair with a loud groan of relief. One whole day went by before he finally managed to beat those trainers. He shook his head tiredly. This would likely go on for more than a week before everyone's interest began to wane.

"Crash!"

Suddenly, there was a sound of something falling down on the floor, followed by a few cries.

"Why are you guys running away? Come back!"

Hisoka turned to see Ralts, Buneary and Gible fleeing as if a devil himself were chasing them. A moment later, Giselle came running after them.

He groaned and slowly got out of his chair. What were those guys up to now?

The three Pokemon eyes lit up when they saw Hisoka. They sprinted up to him and quickly hid behind him. Then, Giselle skidded to a stop in front of him.

"Why are you still here, Giselle? The others have already left."

He asked while giving her a piercing stare. He was too tired to care about this right now.

But how could a girl from a wealthy family care about Hisoka? She ignored him and swooped the three Pokemon behind him into her arms.

"Why don't you tell me you have two more cute Pokemon?"

Giselle rubbed her cheeks against them as they tried to break free.

"I'm too tired to care about this now, Giselle. Can you please leave?"

He said, rubbing his head.

"Okay, okay. I'll leave now. Who wants to stay here anyway."

She said with a look of haughty disdain and put the three Pokemon down, who quickly scrambled away from her.

Just before she walked out of the door, she turned back to him.

"By the way, there is a career fair tomorrow. Principal Simon asks you to come over."

With that, she slammed the door shut behind her.

Hisoka let out a sigh and turned off the light in the gym. After that, he retired to his loft for the night.
