Regulus Black: Back to School

The first thing O'Shea wanted to do after returning to his dorm was to start exploring the third deathly hallow. He believed that the elder wand, invisible cloak and soul stone passed down as Deathly Hallows were topics worth researching. He has some inkling about the Elder wand as his family has more powerful of those wands. In fact, the staff of one of his ancestors, Myrrdin was powerful enough to have a four year old kid blast open a warlock without knowing any magic. But those were family heirlooms and couldn't be researched upon. Moreover, even patriarch can't touch those let alone a junior like me. It will take an existential crisis for the unanimous decision of archmages council to approve its use.

But, this business has to be done patiently. No research till ownership is transferred. He fished out a two way mirror, contacted his family business in-charge in outside world, Gary Wyllt. Gary was also a Hogwarts graduate and the Wyllt's business head in the British Isles. He requested him to create a contract regarding his recent battle gains and after being reassured of secrecy and silence from every involved party on this issue, he focussed on another man from his list. His classmate and the new heir of The Most Noble and Ancient House of Black - Regulus Black.

Regulus was a proper Slytherin. He was pureblood, handsome and even have brains. O'Shea theorized that his will was shaped by the opinion of Black sisters and his own family's opinion of mud bloods. But, still the boy was not extreme in his disgust of others.

Someone would think that O'Shea wanted him to his man like Snape. He didn't, this was purely because he had a interest in his brother, Sirius. The brother's relationship with each other was fragile but it was there. He wanted Sirius because there were some issues which surprised him when he analysed the memories of future. Sirius Black was reckless but strong and best of all, loyal. He was far from the talent Severus had, who O'Shea rated as a genius even if placed in his main branch family, but there was will in him. In the future, without a proper wand, drained of emotions and without any restorative potions, he performed magic just after exiting Azkaban. Those who exit that place are half dead and sapped of the magical energy in them. The energy channels in the body are all frayed, making it near impossible to conduct magic without any issues. This man did it and that too a complex spell like animagus transformation without a wand. Quite tolerant of pain and strength of will, it showed.

It was not enough for him to make him a commander like Snape will be, but enough to be an operator. An external operator like his uncle Gary was, with unlike his uncle's loyalty with his family, Sirius would be his man.

But, how to turn him? He will be an inner circle member of Dumbledore in future. So, I will need multiple reasons to break him from there and one of which will be the act to save his brother's life. It alone was not enough, but it will be a favor, one of the many that he will dump to gain this man. With his plan ready, O'Shea went chasing after the younger Black.

It was not difficult to meet the boy, after all they were in same year and house. But, it was a different thing altogether to chat with him in class as he was surrounded by girls and little mediocre purebloods. Surprisingly, before he went to meet him Regulus came himself to talk with his group of wannabe death eaters friends. This made him revise his plan and he decided that instead of changing his usual character and befriending Black, it was better to tempt him to my side with magic.

"Regulus." I nodded and left it at that. No offer to sit or talk, my usual behaviour, nothing new.

"O'Shea, we were planning to attend the Grigat duelling club to practice in the year break, will you like to join?" Everyone knew my habits so Regulus just told his purpose of visit and awaited my reply. I was quite certain that our previous talk in Slug Club was a reason for this invitation. He was amazed with the knowledge and view of magic we talked about and wanted to experience it for himself.

" I already have an internship arranged during the year break by my family. Can't change the schedule myself."

For a moment, Regulus was bewildered."So soon, we are not even in seventh year yet. I thought only seventh years get an internship. Bollocks, that's crazy hardwork."

"Yes, but that is according to the school curriculum. They used their connection to grant me one with some curse breaker. My family believes that early bird catches the worm. Frankly, I don't understand why are you attending such clubs when there is so much more to learn. "

In any other place, saying so might sound like bragging but in Slytherin, such a thing was regarded as family status. O'Shea wanted to subtly indicate to Regulus, both the power of his family and his unabashed view on wasting time in stupid places.

One of the guys, someone Smith felt offended by my statement and so he sneered at me. "Wyllt, what is the use of so much learning when you can't even use it? You spend so much time in your little room cooped up, you don't even know how the world is changing. How powerful people are now?"

I for once felt disgusted by the weak magical energy around the boy and his big words. James and Sirius were times better than these pureblood lunatics. "Power, you say Smith, do you know I can use exactly five different spells to deal with you in more than a dozen ways right here and now. Or do you think that creating a little death eaters group will increase your magical talent. To me, all your babbling about power is a testament of your poor strength. What will you do in duelling club? Duel others your age and then? When you will go out in the world, will you also select your opponent based on age?"

Seeing quite a few faces turning red and a few hands going for their wands, I readied myself and kept speaking to Smith as no one else was around.

"Duelling in clubs will give you what, battle experience? You can't even use the spells taught in school properly. What use is dark arts to you? More magic and for what, when you can't even handle basics taught in school? Half the time plotting against mudbloods and half bloods, while the rest about becoming a servant of some dark lord, what exactly remains noble about the purebloods like you?"

This seemed to strike a chord with almost everyone standing near Regulus and me. Almost half the Slytherin lowered their head while the rest minus five gripped their wands. About the five who didn't, Regulus was the only one who seemed to be pondering, while the rest were busy firing spells at me.

Oh boy, what a stage they have provided for me to become influential. Should I thank them and go easy or enhance the visual effects. Let's make it wild, when else will I get the chance?
