Chapter 150: Distractions

Carter wiped the back of his arm along his forehead, chopping carrots for the soup of the day. It was his grandmother's famous chicken noodle soup, and it was good for cold days. Which today happened to be one of those. It was the start of the winter season. The snow had just begun to fall, leaving the beginnings of a pure white blanket along the ground. He sighed and peered out the window, wishing that Ariana could see it. It was gorgeous and the city only became more stunning with the frosty ice. He hadn't seen her in a week, and it was wearing down on him. From what he could tell, she was doing well in her new temporary position and he was sure that she would take it once he was back in New York. He sighed and continued to chop the vegetables on the board with harder movements than he had meant to.
