At first, I was too startled to block the spell heading my direction. But Aeden had been paying attention and knew something was wrong. He cast a protective spell over me and the others. Sending every spell off into the trees. I wasn't sure if this were the exact moment in my visions or not, but I refrained from fighting back. I decided I would die rather than harm Cass.
"Holy shit, what do we do?" Kyler yelled. He had his wand out. They all did. But it was a natural reaction. None of us really intended to defend ourselves.
"Nothing," Aeden said. "It's the poison. It's manifested itself." He approached slowly, his hand extended, trying to calm Cassandra. "Cassandra, it's me, Aeden. Put the wand away."
Cassandra waved her wand, and a spell came directly at me, bouncing off the shield. Her magic had improved in such a way that her accuracy was deadly. Dozens of students began gathering behind her, watching the show they knew only inevitable.
