Messing with Souls

Though he wants to start the project he couldn't do it just yet, after all Grey was just a newborn 'Truth', if he could do something like Project SEGGS at this stage then everyone would be making systems.

Even Grey himself only has an idea on what is necessary to create something like that and the first one is obviously control. He needs an higher degree of control of his power.

"The best way to control this is definitely by using it and learning its limits."

Grey flew away from the core to be sure he has enough space and started doing experiments that lasted several days, in the end he came to know quite a lot about what he could and could not do.

For example, Grey could create life, but only something on the level of an animal, since when creating the soul he could never push it to the level of a rational soul. This is what he decided to focus and improve on, after all, he can't just make the system out of code, it will be much more efficient if it has a soul that could take autonomous decisions and evolve.

He started creating a lot of souls and changing them trying to make one that can be considered rational. It took quite a long time but in the end he succeded, although it couldn't be compared to a human soul, it was a start.

Next, he tried changing it in a way that could make it evolve, this would prove useful not only for the system but also for evolving residents. Since all souls have a natural limit that cannot be overcomed under any circumstances if he could create a soul that evolve disregarding those limits it will be possible to also evolve the souls of the residents past what is allowed by law.

The only problem was that... It was harder than Grey expected, it didn't matter what he did it would always occur some problem, some of the times he did break their limit but they always ended up losing Soul Energy rapidly and dying.

The other times, he would prevent the Soul Energy from declining, but in the end they would always reach a limit, and while trying to overcome it they would explode.

During this process Grey made sure to block any kind of 'life' to surge within the soul, after all he didn't want to torture a poor newly born being while experimenting.

"In the end, the problem is the Soul Energy, disregarding it will make it slip away, mainting it inside will create another limit. Ah! I got it!"

In the end, the process of breaking the limits failing could be resumed to the behaviour of Soul Energy, it will always slip away. The limit on the soul is what makes it stay there, at least until it disperses naturally and the resident dies of old age.

The stronger the limits on the soul, the longer the Soul Energy will take to disperse back into the universe that is why when breaking the limits the energy would always disperse rapidly, killing the soul.

"So theoretically all I have to do is to make the Soul Energy stay inside the Soul Body."

After this it was pretty simple, Grey had to do something that could keep all the Soul Energy attached to the Soul Body even without limits.

And he succeded, he made some of the energy from the soul rotate at high speeds inside the Soul Body, making something like artificial gravity by the creation of inertial force, but one that actually works on Soul energy. He called it Soul Sphere

The only problem that came his way was that normal gravity couldn't pull Soul Energy so he decided to use his Nothingness concept on the Soul Sphere, it was quite hard but since he already gained a nice control over it when experimenting on the soul it was achievable.

In the end what he got was soul with something spinning in the middle. He finally created a soul that didn't have a limit.

"As I thought, now I have another problem. If I do this to all of the souls under SEGGS influence I won't have where to send them. And simply destroying them would be quite stupid."

Yes, since the Soul Energy now doesn't dissipate normally, that means that no soul will ever die of 'old age', BUT the body that hosts the soul will. This will make the soul lose its host and it will begin to just wander through the universe, all with its consciousness and memories.

"It would be more efficient if I create something like the reincarnation cycle. This way, souls could go on forever, unless destroyed, and all the Soul Energy available on the universe could be used to aid the evolution instead of being used for new souls."

Since the soul always ends up dying in the current Garden, the Soul Energy that is on the cosmos is used for the creation of news souls as per the Universes Laws. But if the souls stop dying then a lot of energy will be saved, energy that can be used to power the evolution process and the system.

"The problem is that I will have to mess with the Laws of the Garden and that will be troublesome. Well, nothing that I can't do."

Eventually Grey ended up deciding on the idea of the reincarnation cycle, maybe he could even do some thinkering with it...

"Anyway, now I have a limitless soul in my hands, though I definitely won't be using this one for the system. It's better to actually watch it mature to see if there is some problem."

After all, what if it comes to it and a limitless as some kind of problem. Maybe it will never achieve rationality, having no limit to evolution yet being something akin to a berserker. Or it could have a super slow development, something that Grey definitely doesn't want.

Anyhow, Grey would never use a soul like this one for SEGGS, a system that has the evolution of the whole Garden in its hands obviously can't be made by a soul that every living being will have.
