An Ally?

[No errors have been found.]

Grey was alone looking at the screen and listening to the androgynous voice of the system. Since he had already noticed the invasions from other universes, he sent all of the aspects to the locations they were tasked to defend, which led to him being alone right now.

"I'm sure you're tired of hiding, why don't you show yourself?"

From behind him a figure basked in light appeared and revealed its appearance as a man with short deep blue hair and silver eyes. He was scratching his cheek and had a little sweat rolling down his forehead, showing that he was quite nervous.

"I honestly didn't expect you to notice me... I'm a little ashamed."

Grey was now looking at him with his glistening purple eyes and an expressionless face. Honestly, he was a little surprised, he didn't expect to meet one so soon.

"What is a Truth doing here? You should know you have no chance against me without weakening the core."

The man fixed his stance and said seriously.

"That... I-I'm not here to fight... I came here to propose an alliance."

"Alliance? You all should have numerical advantage. Tell me the truth. What do you want?"

Although Grey looked relaxed, he was ready to defend himself if the man decided to attack, although he is confident that he can win against him the system is still in its beginner stage, one attack against the system's soul without Grey's protection and all his work will go down the drain.

"What I said is the truth, I want to form an alliance with you. I am going to be honest with you, if what I've seen in this universe is really what I think it is, it would be more beneficial for me to ally with you than with the others."

Grey squinted his eyes at him.

"You mean, the souls?"

"Exactly."

'It seems my guess was right.'

"The limits on the souls are one of the Truth's nightmares, it limits the strength of our universes, and ours. If you can remove those limits, we are going to lose sooner or later."

"So, you want me to remove the limits of your universe's souls. What's in it for me? You can't seriously expect me to do that just to get someone on my side can you?"

"I'll give you information. I know how limited the information provided by the core is. If you get me on your side, I will provide you any knowledge I have at my disposal. I will also... Open my core for a connection, along with the cores of my subordinate universes."

Grey opened his eyes wide. He surely wasn't expecting a connection to another core so soon. Forming a connection with another core means that the two universes will be linked basically forming only one universe, with the one forming the Superior Connection being the Master universe, and the other the subordinate.

Technically the man was saying that he was willing to become his subordinate if he accepted the deal.

But...

"I don't think breaking the limits isn't enough for a trade like that. What else do you want?"

Yes, breaking the limits of the souls was something that could make a universe rise in strength, but with residents that do not know how to evolve correctly another limit would be formed and the resident's strength would still be capped.

The man took an even more serious expression and glance at the top of the tree.

"There, you have something helping your residents, don't you?"

Grey wasn't surprised that he could feel it, but he sure was surprised that he knew what it was for.

"So you want me to put 'that' in your universe too? Is that it?"

"Yes..."

"All right. I accept."

"Huh? W-Wait! Isn't that to fast? Aren't you afraid that I betray you?"

Hearing that Grey grew a smile.

"That isn't necessary, from the moment I connect it to your universe you will never want to betray me."

"Wha-"

"Anyway, tell me your name."

The man was confused about what Grey had said but he said his name nonetheless.

"I'm Moses Caeruleus. Pleasure to meet you?"

"Grey. Just Grey."

"A-Alright, now what do you mean by-"

"You will know soon enough."

Grey turned around and a system panel full of graphs and data appeared. The panel was also visible for Moses, he turned his head so as to not see, he didn't want Grey to suspect him for whatever reason.

"Come here, I'll explain to you what this is. But know that once I tell you, you will have to open your core for me-"

Grey eyes narrowed into slits and a silent pressure came out of his body.

"- or I'll kill you. Whatever it takes."

The pressure released wasn't much but Moses could fell it. He knew that one wrong move and he wouldn't even know how he died. Even though if that happened, he would be reborn trough his core in some time, he had the feeling that Grey could kill him from here.

He nodded meekly, he honestly looked like a child.

He is normally someone who is serious and loyal to his ideals, but in front of Grey, he felt like a kid, even though he was several times older.

The following days passed by with Grey telling Moses how the system worked and its functionalities. At every minute Moses was getting even more fascinated with it, and in the end, he knew why Grey said he wouldn't want to betray him. Losing something like the system was something he definitely didn't want.

After that Moses allowed for Grey to form a Superior Connection with his core without any trouble. And Grey started the integration process of the system, with Moses's universe and his subordinate universes.

When hearing the messages in his head Moses gave Grey a wide smile.

He knew the decision of allying with him was the correct one.
