Calvin dismissed his secretary after being informed that Tristan was here to see him. After his approval, Tristan walked into his father's study to meet him seated on his chair with his back facing him.
Silence suffused the room until...
"So you've fallen in love and..."
"It's not like that Dad, hear me out," Tristan interrupted as if knowing what his father was about to say, staring at the chair as if it was his father.
"Hear you out? Okay, go on."
That was when Tristan knew that he never had a specific reason for why he couldn't kill that girl.
"I've been stupid and not serious," he said instead. "I know I've allowed a girl to make me lose core but now that I've realized, I'd do my best from now on," he said more like telling himself that he'd do his best. His best to stay away. She was going to die anyway even if he didn't want her to because she had got to leave the way. "But can you let the girl go? I promise I won't..." He was cut off when his dad turned around tossing the glass cup that was in his hand his way. He wasn't scared but worried, worried that his dad had lost faith in him.
Did he even have faith in him before? No! Tristan was always doing his best to make this man proud and even if his father shows to him that he was proud, he could see plainly in his eyes that he was not satisfied with whatever he does.
Tristan stared at his Dad with so many thoughts spurting in his mind and his expression traded him out. What had he done to this man? Why did he hate him so much? What did he want him to do to satisfy him? He had done all that he could, he had been acting like a servant to him, he had been killing people for him, he had made him kill his mother! What! What else did he want him to do? Kill his landlady?
No! That wasn't happening! This time he wasn't going to allow his dad to win!
They both glared at each other waiting to see who'd win the contest but no one until Tristan had tears bubbling in his eyes, he was in pain and anger.
"I'm not letting her go!" Calvin roared with wide eyes. "That girl! That girl is..." He took a breath in through his gritted teeth and was furious. "...in the way and must leave so early," he uttered.
"I'm not going to let that happen. I've been doing all that you wanted Dad. I listen to what you instructed me to, I killed for you, the woman you couldn't kill, I killed her for you! I didn't have any plans for myself. We were both sent back to Earth to fulfill a mission but still, you treat me like I'm some instrument that you use whenever you want to but now for the first time, I'm not going to do what you want. You are not killing that girl!"
"You are going against your father for a girl?" He asked.
"Not for the girl Dad, I'm tired of being your puppet and doing what you always want, this time I'll do what... I... want."
"I'm your Dad, Tristan! I have the right and it's my priority to lead you so, you have to do what I want and you are not stopping that!" He yelled.
Tristan stared at him and scoffed. "You'll be surprised. And this time I aim to always disappoint you. So now I'm going to do everything to let you down."
"Let's see about that son. I'll surely watch as you crawl back to me and me being your father will gladly accept you."
"I'll make sure to do beyond your imaginations, and I'll rather die than crawl back to the person that used me like a tool and..." He paused his expression changing. "...enjoy your life as a good president Calvin, don't forget I know all about your dubious and evil works and I might one day expose them all. I don't mind going to jail," he offered a fake smile and turned about before leaving the room.
Calvin would have killed him but Tristan had become stronger, he had almost completed his tattoos and once he completes the last one, he'd be stronger than him, that was why he wanted to kill that girl because he didn't want his son to be stronger than him. Yes, his tattoos weren't complete because he didn't kill his beloved with his own hands.
Calvin turned to his table and poured himself a drink in another glass and then took sips as he stared at the wall. Tristan threatened him because of some girl but he could see in his son's eyes that it wasn't just because of the girl, he was in pain about something but what?
Tristan ended up in a bar that evening and drank too much, too much than he could control. He took some girls with him home when he became so intoxicated, he could control himself but preferred not to. He wanted to lose his mind and let himself free from his pain and dilemmas.
Liliana got home after work but didn't find Tristan, she had known Tristan to always be on that chair every time, and that was why she always expect to see him whenever she comes and go.
Liliana then wondered where he had gone to. After changing and eating also preserving his, she went outside her door and sat on her chair waiting for him and also enjoying the night breeze but when she spotted Tristan coming in with girls. She became mad and went into her house, turning off the lights before going to lie in bed. Girls again? All the time! She didn't know why she was so upset about it, maybe it was because she hated the idea. Or 'because you want me only for yourself' she shook his words off her head as she laid on her belly staring at the window.
She didn't want him only for herself, she just didn't like the idea of him always playing with girls. It was wrong! She convinced herself.
Tristan wanted to squelch those tiring thoughts off his head and not only his head, his life! He wasn't having fun even when the girls around him were doing their best to satisfy him, he just felt irritated by their presence. Yelling and scolding them, he sent them away without paying. He was still in his bed, naked with his eyes closed, he felt miserable. He hated himself for always doing whatever his father wanted. He had made him kill so many people he'd once loved so much, his mother...that was why he had the drawing on his body.
The tattoos were more like badges earned from doing something or passing a test. He killed his three best friends the last time they were on Earth not only that, he killed his nanny, his teacher that acted as a mother to him, and also his teacher's children because they saw the scene of him killing their Mom. Recalling those scenes, he regretted it all, not that he couldn't do so willingly, he regretted it because his father told him to do so and he did it without thinking of what he wanted but this time was different, he didn't want Liliana to be killed and it wouldn't happen. Thinking of Liliana, was she home? Sleeping? Eating or watching a surgical procedure?
Forgetting he was still naked, he teleported to her room. Yeah, he was right, she was sleeping or was she dead?!
"Liliana!" He called her name in fear. Why? Why was he so afraid that she might be dead? He could hear her heartbeat.
Liliana was startled because she was always forgetting that her neighbor was a sorcerer and could teleport whenever and wherever he wants. She turned around to show her annoyed-looking face but what she saw got her eyes wide open. She didn't turn away or close her eyes... She was a doctor so she had seen some naked patients.
"Tristan! Are you mad?!" She yelled and then turned away. That was when he realized that he was still naked. He didn't mind anyway
"Can I sleep with you?" Did he just ask that? Was he mad? He sighed disappointedly with himself. He teleported back before Liliana reacted.
Liliana gasped and ran out of her bed. She was blushing and her face had turned red, she continued to have that image of his naked body in her mind and she blushed hard. "wh...what...do you mean Tristan?" She asked. "I'm not like those girls...you...you take around with you," she said stammering, her heart was beating faster behind and when she recalled his body again, her stomach tingled.
"Forget what I said landlady," he startled her again. She wasn't expecting him to be behind her already, she had been saying unnecessary things when he wasn't in her room. Standing behind her, she froze and then thought of what might happen with the two of them all alone in her room and him being naked.
She screamed and walked away from him, and then realized that he was no longer naked, he had already worn his night clothes. She eyed him before looking at his eyes, his eyes weren't so dark as they used to be.
'Are you okay?' she couldn't question him through her mouth, she didn't have the gut to.
"I'm okay," he told her. "Just can't sleep," he said.
"I didn't ask if you are okay," she told him.
"Your eyes ask so," his pleasant voice said causing her to look at his eyes.
"I also can't sleep," she said. "But you have girls, you can go back to them," she said.
Tristan pressed his lips. So, she saw that. "I sent them away."
'why?'
"I wasn't really in the mood," he said, he wasn't so intoxicated now, the drinks weren't effective like before when he just had the drink.
"Ohh, okay," she said and bit her lower lip looking down and when he didn't utter a word and also felt his gaze on her, she looked up and met his gaze. "Why staring?"
He shrugged and then sat on her bed. "Wanna play cards?"
