REASON

'Grrrrr, Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr'

The alarm went off, jolting Samuel from his sleep.

With his face to the mattress, he stretched his hand in an attempt to silence the alarm.

"Turn off, you damn Alarm," he grumbled, still attempting to turn it off before dropping it on the floor.

"Shoot," he sat up quickly and picked it up. He walked slowly to the bathroom. As he washed his face, he arranged his messy curly light brown hair in front of the mirror. He noticed a pimple on his forehead.

"How did this happen?" He mumbled as he attempted to break it.

"I need Grandma's cream," he said as he walked out of the bathroom.

As he approached Grandma's room, he raised his hand to knock on her door.

"Fiona could be inside as well," he reasoned, dropping his hand. He avoided her after they returned from the hospital yesterday, hoping she wouldn't question him about what happened in the ward. He even returned home late after spending time with Alan.

"I'll ask her later," he muttered as he walked into the living room. As he entered, a knock came in.

"Who could it be?" He frowned, looking at the wall clock, which read 8:30.

"Who is it?" As he opened the door, he asked.

"Hey! Good morning, "Eric replied with a smile.

"Can you tell me what brought you here this morning?" Samuel was standing in front of him.

"I came to join you for breakfast," Eric forced a smile and pushed him away as he entered the house. He resolved to be friendly despite what had happened the day before to meet Fiona.

Samuel scoffed, his tongue protruding.

"Did Mrs.Tess deprive you of food?"

"No, I came to apologize to this new girl, and as you can see, I brought flour to teach her as my token of apology," Eric explained, holding up the bag he had brought with him.

"Didn't you say you didn't do anything to her?"

"I..,"

"It's too early for your chit-chat, "Grandma cut them off as she rubbed her eyes, yawning. She, too, heard the knock and went outside.

"What brought you here this morning?"

She inquired, her gaze fixed on the bag.

"I came for breakfast," Eric explained.

"You arrived early," Grandma said as she walked to the kitchen.

"She's still sleeping, exhausted from yesterday," Samuel pointed out.

"I'm not going to disturb her sleep; I can wait," Eric said as he left Samuel to join Grandma in the kitchen.

"What happened to her? How did you come across her? Where did you find her?" Eric graced Grandma with questions.

"First greet me," Grandma smacked him on the head.

"Ouch! I'm sorry, Good morning, "Eric apologized.

"All I can tell you is that she lost her memories. Pass the bread to me, "Grandma pointed to the bread.

"Where did see her?" Eric inquired, passing her the bread on the table. He wanted to know everything because he wasn't sure about Fiona telling him everything.

"On the road, Samuel found her," Grandma whispered.

"Oh, I see," Eric said as he turned to leave.

"Don't bother her with questions; just be yourself. I let you stay with her because she seemed at ease around you, and we aren't always at home. She might become bored, "Grandma stopped him, saying.

Eric nodded and made an okay motion with his fingers.

Fiona exhaled deeply as she lay on her bed, barely hearing their voices.

"These people sure enjoyed their sleep," she grumbled as she stood up and walked to the bathroom.

She looked at her visible dark circles; it was clear that she hadn't gotten enough sleep the night before.

"I think I should go back to white," she muttered, touching her hair. Maybe if she did that, they wouldn't find her, or maybe plastic surgery will suffice.

"How am I going to get the money?" She pondered as she washed her face.

She paused on her way out of the bathroom to listen in on their conversation.

"It's Eric's voice," she wondered.

Why had he arrived so early? She wouldn't blame him; he must be intrigued by what happened to her.

"Go see if Fiona is still sleeping, poor girl must be so tired," She heard Grandma saying.

"You're right, Grandma, I'm poor," she mumbled as she walked out the door. She reasoned that Grandma had Samuel asked to check on her, so she went out on her own to avoid eye contact with him.

She came to a halt halfway to the dining room after noticing him in front of her.

"You're already awake," He said, turning away.

"Yes, Good morning," she said as she walked past him.

"Why did she walk by like that, I am not trash," he muttered as he leaned against the wall.

"Hey!, Fiona, you're awake, how do you feel?" Eric asked as he sighting her coming towards him.

"I'm fine, thank you for yesterday," Fiona replied aloud as she saw Grandma coming out of the kitchen.

"Breakfast ready," Grandma said as she placed the food on the table.

They sat down except for Samuel who didn't come out.

"I'm not sure why Samuel keeps saying you caused what happened yesterday, see she's even thanking you, don't mind him, He's been acting like he doesn't care for her but the truth is he cares more than I do," Grandma explained.

Fiona nearly spilled the milk she was drinking.

Grandma chuckled as she tossed Fiona a handkerchief.

"You see, she's surprised," Grandma said to Eric.

"I see," Eric said, smiling. He also believed Samuel is fond of Fiona.

"Why isn't he out? I sent him to call you "Grandma wondered aloud.

"He called me, I guess he went back to his room," Fiona explained.

After some minutes, Samuel came out, all dressed up.

"Where am I going to sit?" He inquired while adjusting his face cap.

"You know where the other chair is, you just want to start a fight with Eric," Grandma said sternly.

Samuel grumbled and made his way to the kitchen.

"How come you're wearing a face cap?" As he brought another chair, she asked.

"I just want to wear it today," he said as he sat down.

"But you don't wear them in the summer," She pressed on.

"Can I eat? I just feel like wearing it." Samuel sounded irritated.

"You shouldn't talk to Grandma like that." Eric chimed in.

"And what is it to you?" Samuel gave him a firm stern.

"Watch!..."

"Keep quiet, everyone," Grandma interjected.

"Eat up and go to school so you won't be late, Eric will take me to the restaurant today," she faced Samuel.

"I'm done eating," Samuel said as he stood up and went to his room.

"What's wrong with him today?" Eric wondered, annoyed.

"I suppose he woke up on the wrong side of the bed," Grandma sighed as she carried her plate to the kitchen.

As Grandma left, Eric gave Fiona a questioning look.

"What?" Fiona mumbled. She had no idea what was bothering Samuel and doesn't want to get involved.

___________

After his class, Samuel walked to the school field and sat down on one of the benches there.

"What's wrong with me?" He signed aloud hitting his head. He didn't understand why he had to react that way, in fact, he didn't understand his behavior since yesterday morning. He could have just explained that it was because of his unexpected pimple, that was why he decided to wear a face cap; to cover it.

"Hey!" Alan greeted him as he approached him. He was heading to the staff room when he saw him.

"Hi," Samuel answered quietly.

"What's wrong," He asked noticing Samuel's sad expression.

"I did something bad,"

"What did you do? Grandma found out you drank last night?" Alan asked as he sat down.

Samuel gave him a hard stare.

"Sorry...,"

"Good afternoon, Teacher Samuel and Coach Alan," A female student interrupted their talk.

"Yes Gracie, What do you want?" Samuel asked. Grace was the top student in his music class.

"I noticed your mood in the class this morning wasn't bright, so I brought you this to cheer you up," She handed him a banana milk.

"Ok, Thank you I guess," Samuel collected it.

"Teacher, I don't like seeing you down, your handsome face with your...,"

"Alright that's okay, Gracie, Don't you know using some words to a teacher in the school environment is prohibited?" Alan cut in. He knew she will start flirting with him.

"Coach!" Grace grumbled.

"I am only taking concerned about my favorite teacher's health," She added.

"Yeah Yeah, You can go now,"

"It's because of her!" Samuel exclaimed drawing their attention.

"Who?" Alan asked.
