Vika's POV

"Ready to face the world again?" I asked, leaning into his arms.

Several hours of peace were quite valuable for both of us.

Asher chuckled and sighed. He touched my cheek—a touch I would never stop loving—and wiggled my toes, smiling and looking down.

"Thank you, Vika, for giving me strength," Asher said.

"That's what mates do, right?" I replied, arms wrapping his neck.

Asher nodded. "Absolutely." He looped his arm around my waist.

"There you two are," my mother called the second we left the dining tent and went for a walk.

"Vika, I have something for you. I think it's better to give you now. It's from your mom, your birth mom, Queen Krisha," my mom said, holding an old book in her hand.

"Queen Krisha?"

"Did you know that I was born in Lanem?" she asked.

I gaped. My jaw opened like an empty hole.

"I was and so was your mother, Krisha," my mom said.

"She was from Lanem, but they are our enemy," I gasped. Was my mom just messing with me?
