Chapter 40: An Old Friend

Sarah looked to her side and her gaze met with his. She never thought he looked as beautiful as now.

“I love you, Sarah,” he whispered, his thumbs caressing her cheeks gently. “Truly.”

She was caught off guard. A confession of love was not something she was actually expecting from him. It was true he had said before that he had fallen for her, but she wasn’t waiting to hear that.

She blinked a few times, but it was impossible to help smiling back at him. She could feel the warmth spreading across her heart from his declaration. She felt the same, of course. There was no way she couldn’t. Each day she was more sure about her feelings for him.

“I love you too, Victor,” she replied, turning on her side to stare into those beautiful eyes. “I’ve never loved someone as much as I love you.”

He leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on her lips. A romantic moment after all the wildness they had just experienced.
