Chapter 25: Goodbye Kiss

Princess Lila

“What?!” cried a voice from inside the cabin.

General Lark opened the door and revealed an office crammed with maps, books, and strange trinkets. No surface was left uncovered by stuff. Behind a large wooden desk sat a well-dressed Fae, and on a chair opposite to him sat Phillis, dressed as one of the soldiers.

“Your Grace,” Phillis said, standing up and bowing towards Princess Lila. “Prince Acheron assured me I would be safe here, so I removed my… disguise last night.”

“This is Captain Markin. Captain, Princess Lila Havilland,” General Lark said.

“Pleasure to meet you. Now, Phillis, about that proposition….” Captain Markin seemed to have no interest in talking to Princess Lila or General Lark. “You’re most welcome here if you want to stay. It’s not easy work, and you’ll have to keep it quiet, but we could use an extra hand. And that extra something you have.”

Phillis gave Captain Markin a sad smile.
