Chapter 19: Surprise Encounter

On the following Monday, Raul, Garett and Melinda were excitedly preparing for the next day’s school trip. They were sitting in a restaurant in the city after school, marking off their respective checklists for items to take with on the trip.

“So, what did Percival say when you mentioned visiting the old age home?” Garett asked, with his eyes stretched wide.

“Oh, you should have seen his eyes,” Raul answered excitedly. “He looked at me as if I had lost my mind! He said there was no point in visiting the old man because he was senile and wouldn’t remember me.”

“So you told him that you would go anyway,” Melinda said with a concerned frown. “Don’t you think he will just concoct a reasonable explanation for Patrice’s not being there?” she asked with a frown.

“By the way, you should make time and ask him about Graham’s identity one day,” Garett suggested. “And ask him why Graham is allowed to travel in and out of the bird sanctuary, unlike the other birds there.”
