Helina didn’t fully recover from their morning conversation until mid-afternoon. At that point, Chase shut down his computer. “We need to go shopping.”
Helina looked up from her notetaking. “Shopping?”
“You need a dress for the gala.”
“I have that one we bought for the dinner with Regenate executives.”
He shook his head while pushing back from his desk. “That’s a cocktail dress. You need a full-length dress that will knock off everyone’s socks.”
“So I’m a showpiece for you tonight.”
“In a manner of speaking. You’ll get great food, too and the champagne will flow like it’s melting from the winter’s snowpack,” he said as he put folders into his briefcase.
