The compassion in Casandra’s heart filled her and overwhelmed her as she watched the terrifying god slowly slip away. Anubis gazed at her with disbelief, but continued to hold the creature down until told to do otherwise by the queen. Nephthys stood beside her and put her hand upon her shoulder.
“Sister, you must know that he will continue to wreak havoc as he always has?” she said softly.
“Yes, Nephthys,” she answered with a smile, “but hasn’t that been the balance of the world up until now? You cannot kill chaos. Without chaos, order becomes tyranny. No, we need him. But, even that aside, he is my brother and your husband. He has done wrong, yes, but how can I not forgive when I know we all have done wrong and have been forgiven? If I do not forgive him, perhaps I never deserved forgiveness. Maybe you did not deserve forgiveness. But, we still got it. That’s why it's called forgiveness. We do not deserve it.”
