"But why him? Why did it have to be Akira? Did you already know what she was planning?"
"Young man, you should choose your words carefully. It almost seems like you're insinuating that my daughter was the one who planned his murder."
"..." Akira could see it on the man's face. He knew the truth as well but he was never going to reveal it with his own mouth.
"So you knew about it," Akira breathed out with a small dry chuckle, "Then were you just pretending to like him this entire time? You treated him like a son... Was that also a part of the act?"
"I really did treat him like my own son," The man answered honestly this time as he spoke, "I treated him better than I treated my own daughter. He was like the son I never had. His death... It saddened me a lot. It was a real pity, but what could I do?"
Akira felt a little conflicted as he heard this. The man sounded genuine and he was not sure if this was all an act as well.
