"Hey Missy!" he chirps, beaming as Athena comes into view. She mutters something under her breath in irritation as to why he is here.
"What are you doing here?" she asks, keeping her tone stern. She tries to avoid how good he looks in that white t-shirt underneath, a thin jacket, and ripped jeans. His hair adds another element to his charm.
"I missed you" he smiles and that did make Athena's heart skip a beat. "That's why I came all the way to here."
"I appreciate that but you aren't welcome here. Please leave" she tells him. She wants to ask how the hell he knew where she resides but it is not of her concern. She wants this man to be out of Arcillia.
"Huh? That's very rude of you Missy. I came all the way from Warlow to Arcillia and that's how you treat me? Is this how the people of Arcillia?" he says it as a joke but one felt offended. The men who were trying to let him out earlier now force him to leave before they kill him.
"Missy! They are threatening me! Should I be scared?"
"Yes, because if you don't leave. They will kill you" she says with a cold gaze. His smile falls and he looks somewhat scared? No, he looks at it with seriousness.
But then he burst into laughter. Everyone raises their eyebrow at him as to why he is laughing at a situation like this? He comes back to normal when he feels the sharp eyes on him.
"Kill me? C'mon Missy, you don't have to joke with a brooding face" he chuckles, looking at her.
"My lady, let me—" Athena raises her hand in the space between her and Cynthia.
She takes steps towards him, steady and calm, and gestures her men to let him free. They do and he stands, adjusting his jacket.
She stops leaving few distances between them. "You really think I will joke?" she asserts.
She takes another step, "Do you really think you can say anything you please?"
"No, I did not mean—" she cuts him off, not giving him a chance to say.
"I am not finished yet" she asserts coldly, "how did you know I live here?"
"You told me?"
"Dumb man, I am referring to how you know about this place in Arcillia?" she asks. It is enough of a headache to see him but him being the dumbest creature now adds an element to it.
"I just asked the people about you and they gave me your address. I have to say, people aren't friendly here. In Warlow—"
She cuts him off again. "You can leave now. You met me, right? Now leave."
He frowns, having it hard to digest this personality of hers which is so distant. "Can't we talk? I am not fooling, I am serious, Athena."
"You might not still understand what situation you are in. Please, before my mood changes, leave" she warns, glaring at him. But Vincent isn't the coward who will leave that easily just by threats.
"I won't. I won't go" he says with determination. He takes a step forward and reaches to hold her hands but Cynthia comes from her behind and smacks his hands. "My lady, let us handle this." Athena shook her head at Cynthia's offer. If it was someone else, she would have easily accepted but he is not someone. She cannot understand why she cannot bring herself to kill him?
"Who are you?" Vincent narrows his eyes at Cynthia who had hit his hands with force.
"If you don't stop blabbering, I will cut that tongue of yours" Cynthia threatens.
If she said this a moment earlier, he might have laughed but judged at how dense the atmosphere is in here, he thinks she isn't lying.
"Why do you all threaten me? I don't understand" Vincent articulates.
Athena thought she wouldn't have to reveal herself and he will leave but the man is stubborn enough. To be honest, this is the first time someone with whom she has slept came to say that they want more. People in Arcillia know she is and they dare not approach her after the night.
"Look, Athena, I just want to talk to and spend some with you. Is it too much to ask?" he holds her hand even after Cynthia's threat. He is also frustrated too.
Athena's jaw clenches and she hates how her heart beats at his touch or the way he is looking at her.
She jerks her hand away from him. She cannot dwell in, she cannot.
"Kneel" she orders. Vincent remains the same as if he hasn't heard what she said. "I said kneel."
"What?" She gestures her men to make him and with one kick near his knees, Vincent kneels. He hisses at the sudden attack but is more baffled to see Athena standing unbothered.
"What the heck? Why should I kneel?" he snaps at the men and then turns his narrow eyes at her.
"You should have known where you are stepping into, lad." Her words confuse him and when he tries to get up, the man kicks on his calves again.
"Goddammit," he mutters, falling to the ground.
Athena lowers to her knees so as to match his height and stretches her hand forward to brush her index finger on his jaw. "Do you know who I am?" she asks, tilting his chin, "Do you?"
He does not. He only knows her name and where she lives. So he doesn't know anything about her. When he does not answer, she gets up and that distant expression takes place.
"Throw him out" she orders to the men and turns around to go inside the mansion.
"Wait! You haven't told me who you are!" he yells when the men drag him out of the gate. "Let me go! Athena, wait!"
Athena keeps on walking and does not bother to look at him. "My lady, he will not leave that easily. Should we let him go like that?" Cynthia asks, walking beside Athena.
"We don't need to bother. After getting humiliated like that, he will go on his own."
They can still hear his yells, hear him calling her name.
"Let's leave. We already wasted half an hour here" Athena asserts, taking the glass of wine from the maid's hand. Cynthia helps to put on the jacket on Athena.
When they step outside, she is glad not to hear any yells of him. Good thing, he left. Santos ushers her to the car and closes the door when she sits comfortably.
However, the moment her car is out of the gate, hitting the road, he popped in front. The driver pressed the brakes in sudden reflex, making a loud screech. Athena safely secures in her seat because of the seat, looks in front with her eyebrows drawing together. "My lady" the driver waits for her order. Vincent is still standing in front of their car and won't move even if the guards try to drag him away.
She rubs her temples in irritation as he tells her name again. Cynthia who is sitting beside her says with fierce protectiveness. "My lady, we should throw him in the dungeon."
She can do that but Athena shook her head. "He is not a criminal, my love. We don't punish innocent people. " Apart from being a complete nuisance, he is innocent so she cannot kill him nor throw him into that dark cell.
"But my lady, he is overstepping" Cynthia argues, looking at Vincent with a grimace through the car window as the men punched him.
Athena sighs as she gazes at him. She is still surprised he came all the way to Arcillia just for her. Special but stupid.
"Athena! You can't treat me like this! Did you just forget the night we spent together?" he yells, a slight bruise marking his face. Now that has made her glare at him with rage.
Everyone knows how messy yet organized her private life is, and they are smart enough not to talk about it.
Out of anger, she orders the men to beat him harder. "Keep it going until he begs to leave!" she grits out. "Start the car" she commands to the driver and in a minute, she is out of the area. She ignores his yells and his begs as his voice starts to fade.
Damn bastard! Just how cocky can he be? Now, she starts to think that sleeping with him was a mistake. He should never have been on her agenda.
