"Welcome." He said as he opened the door of the big house. This house is really big with modern style everywhere.
My mouth even opened uncontrollably after we entered the gate of the house. Even from the big gate of the house, we still traveled several hundred meters with tall green pine trees that made the atmosphere so lush. And arriving in the yard of the house there was a man waiting to park the car.
"Come." He held out his hand and I looked at him doubtfully, did he want me to take his outstretched hand or what? My brain suddenly had a hard time thinking.
"Come on." He said it one more time and that only convinced me to take my outstretched hand. We walked through several rooms, all unlocked with his fingerprints, and all looking very modern.
We even ran into two uniformed maids as we entered another large room.
"Welcome to my library."
"Wow..." My eyes swept across the super large room filled with books all over the shelves. I even lost control of myself until without his permission stepped my foot to the nearest shelf and looked at the collection. Everything looked so neatly arranged, and it made me realize one thing, he doesn't really need my help with tidying up his library.
"But this library is very tidy." I turned to look at him and he seemed to fold his arms standing looking at me.
"Yes." He nodded.
"Then what should I do?" I asked confused.
He smiled, walked over to the shelf closest to me and picked up a book at random.
"Make a chapter summary of this book." He said as he handed me the book.
"I'll pay you the hour you work." he said.
"Can I work at home?" I asked.
"Unfortunately no." The answer.
"What?" I'm clearly confused about it.
"Work in my library, on a laptop, and you can only do it after your shift ends at that coffee shop."
My brows knit.
"I'll give you fifty dollars an hour, you can use the money to meet your needs during college." he said.
"Ok, sit on the couch for a bit." He asked me to sit down while he left me alone in the library. A few minutes later a waiter came with drinks and food.
"Mr Hudson wants you to eat while he's working on something." The waiter said to me. I'm really confused about it. And I'm really hungry right now until I finally drank the juice and also put a few pieces of meat in my mouth. Luckily I had done everything neatly when the mysterious man came.
This time he looked more relaxed in a white shirt, sleeves rolled up to the elbows and jeans.
"You'll use this laptop for summaries, and you can take it home to do some of your coursework."
I gulped, he facilitated me with a sophisticated laptop worth thousands of dollars. Oh . . . what is this man doing.
"This is a smartphone for you, I want to get job updates from the people who work for me quickly, so you will need a communication tool that has sufficient capabilities to support it." He handed me a cell phone still in its box.
"I've put my phone number in there." He added while looking at me, but I think I was frozen by him.
"You . . .?" I couldn't even finish my sentence.
"You work for me now. You are committed to coming here every Saturday after your shift ends at the coffee shop, you have to make a chapter summary of the book I gave you, you have to use the facilities I gave you to support your work and one more thing. You have to pick up my phone every day."
"Will you call me everyday, Sir?"
"Only when I need to call you. Including replaying to the text messages."
"Isn't this an exaggeration?" I asked.
"I'm a businessman, I know what I'm spending and I know that every resource I spend I will get the profit and benefit I want."
"You'll earn fifty dollars every hour, and how many hours you work depends on my needs. Everything will be entered into the virtual banking account installed on your phone, so you can spend it on your shopping needs." He added again.
"Oh yeah, I heard all students can come out of the dorm on weekends." He said to lighten the mood after the chat that made my brain heat up a bit.
"Yeah, they're going back to their parents' house."
"And you?" she asked.
"I . . ." I looked down. "I'll stay in the dorm."
"You don't have any boyfriend? Or may be the pant to hang out with your friend?"
"None of them, I will spend the time just enjoy reading the book, maybe."
"Cool, so you better to stay here and finish your work then. I'll have someone prepare your room while you stay here."
"Me? You asked me to stay?" I asked doubtfully.
"There are more than ten rooms in this house, so don't worry. You will stay here safely and comfortably" he said. I haven't given any answers to all the questions and offers that were indiscriminate from him which made it difficult for me to think and digest the offers one by one.
"Is that the deal?" he asked, holding out his hand. I looked up at the hand, then at his face. And when I looked into his eyes, I found myself as if I had just fallen into a calming ocean that I could no longer find any reason to refuse.
"Deal." I returned my hand.
"Okay, you can get to work." He left me alone in the room with all the new equipment I had.
