In One Year I

The crowing of a rooster and an annoying beeping caused me to open my eyes. It was the last out of the five alarms I needed to wake up for work this early, though I rarely went past the fourth alarm.

As much as I wanted to stay in bed, I turned the alarm off and sat up. I couldn't lose any more time or I would've been late.

I stood up and grabbed my clothes before heading out of my room. Strangely, neither Sachiko nor Tetsuya seemed to have woken up. I didn't think anything of it and stepped into the bathroom to take a shower.

I was able to shut my mind up and step out of the bathroom in record time. However, Sachiko opened the door of her room as I walked to mine.

"Rie, why are you getting ready to go out?" she asked with a raspy voice, messy hair, and wearing pajamas.

"What do you mean? Why aren't you getting ready?"

Wait.

Sachiko answered, "Because holidays began today."
