William Griffith and Cherish Turner had changed into their golf clothes, walking side by side. One was coldly handsome, the other was delicate and tranquil. Far from being incompatible, they seemed well-matched.
"Mom, Mr. Tanigawa." Cherish approached and greeted them softly.
Cherish chatted with Lady Lottie and Mr. Tanigawa for a while. Perhaps Tanigawa said something that made William feel displeased:
"Cherish, come play golf with me."
William took a golf club from a caddy and handed it to her, signaling her to take it.
Cherish shook her head hurriedly, "I won't play, I don't know how."
"Miss Turner, come on! You'll learn if you try!" Green encouraged.
Tanigawa also enjoyed playing golf but wasn't very good at it. He thought having Cherish practice with him would be an opportunity for them to improve their skills together. He eagerly involved her, "I didn't know how to play either but learned from a coach. You haven't even tried it. How can you know you can't do it?"
