Speaking with the system.

Just as he thought, still running as fast as he could, a zombie popped out of nowhere. Thank goodness he noticed it on time and pushed it out of the way. He needed to hide somewhere, if he keeps running, these bizarre creatures would keep chasing after him. But how would he hide when these zombies were right behind him? They were so fast.

Do you know how bad it would be when he hides somewhere and the zombies noticed where he hid? Men, it would be disastrous. So he has to be very careful, he can't just run into any corner and hide there, the zombies would follow him. As he was running, another zombie popped out in front of him. Just as he did to the first one, he pushed it out of his way and continued running.

In front, he noticed an intersection, and he planned on cornering one of the streets. He glanced back, and these bizarre creatures were still chasing after him. Well, he was still gonna corner one of the streets. He increased his speed, he wanted to see if he could corner one of the streets then hide somewhere before the zombies would corner along with him.

Getting to the intersection, he followed right, and thank goodness, he found another corner immediately...a good place to hide. He began running to the corner with great speed, and as he got closer to the corner, he noticed another set of zombies in front of him. There were about ten of them, and they had already sensed that a human was behind them, a human with fresh blood.

Before they could turn around, he ran into the corner and squatted. If they had sighted him, then he would have been in big trouble, he would have been trapped. They would come after him, then the ones chasing him from behind would come also, and then what would happen next? They'll feast on him. The ones in front and the ones chasing him from behind didn't see him enter here, so he must be safe here.

He saw the ones chasing him from behind run past. Yeah, they saw him enter this street, so he must be in front right now, let's chase after him...yeah, that's their foolish thinking. But it's good as their thinking was like that, 'cause if it wasn't, then they'll stop and start searching for him...and that would be bad. Now that he was free from danger for the meantime, he began thinking why this had to happen to him, why did he have to transmigrate into this world?

He died a painful death, wasn't he supposed to find himself in a peaceful world where he'll enjoy himself and forget about all that happened to his family? Why did he have to transmigrate into this earth? This is what the heavens had bestowed onto him, he'll have to accept it. From the very beginning he found himself inside this world, he had the feeling that something was wrong, and now, he had confirmed what was wrong.

And also, he couldn't help but wonder what brought about those bizarre creatures, how did they come about? Or were there no humans on this earth? Did the heavens fill this earth with bizarre creatures from the very beginning? But no, there were humans. The lady he saw in that car was human, she was just lifeless. And the dead bodies he saw on the ground were humans too, but they were lifeless as well.

Or have humans been wiped out of existence on this earth? All humans have turned into zombies, and many had died. Now, if that was the case, then he was doomed. And he couldn't stop thinking about that system also, how can an interface appear on the air, then he'll be hearing a voice speaking to him at the same time? Since he found himself inside this earth, lots of abnormal things have been happening.

He was still thinking about the system when he heard the system's voice,

[ Host, congratulations on escaping death]

"What! you again?". Hugo voiced out with a type of bewildered facial expression.

[ Host, reduce your voice if you don't want to get bitten]

"Who are you?". Hugo questioned.

[ I am a system, I've been bestowed onto you]

"You've been bestowed onto me? What does that mean?".

[ When a person dies, he or she can't decide where he'll be reincarnated or transmigrated into. This is where the heavens placed you, so I'm just like a guide to you. I'll guide you throughout your journey in this world]

"Hmm, but why did the heavens have to transmigrate me into this world? I died a painful death in my previous life, why did they have to transmigrate me into a world filled with bizarre creatures?".

[ As I've told you before, you can't decide where you'll be transmigrated into, this is where the heavens placed you. That's why I was bestowed onto you to guide you]

Hugo rubbed his jaw with his fingers, then he inquired of the system once again,

"What brought about this chaos? This apocalypse? How did it come about?".

[ I have the answer to your question, but I won't tell you, you have to find out in safe zone]

"Safe zone? What do you mean safe zone? Is it a corner like this? Where I'm hiding? This place is partially a safe zone".

[ Host, this place isn't safe enough, any small mistake from you, all the zombies would come running towards this place. There isn't even a barrier to protect you]

"So, what safe zone are you talking about?". Hugo inquired.

[ Lots of humans have turned into those bizarre creatures, but humans haven't been wiped out of existence. There are still humans in this city and other cities, but the humans in this city are limited. Most of the survivors are in a place they call the 'Lotus sage academy'. That academy is the safe zone of this city, many survivors are there. And best of all, the academy has a barricade, it's fenced]

"How do I get to that academy? Is it far from this place?". Hugo questioned.

[ It isn't that far, and it isn't that close either, definitely, you wouldn't be able to get there in one day]

"Oh, men. And the worst part of it, I'm not familiar with this place, I just transmigrated into this earth. How do I find my way to the academy?".

[ Host, are you forgetting me? That's why I'm here, I will guide you to the academy]

"Oh! true, I almost forgot. And for sure, getting to the academy wouldn't be easy 'cause of the zombies around". Hugo said.

[ That's true, but I'm here to help you]

"Should I start heading to the academy right now?".

[ Most likely, but before you do that, this is what your stats looks like, you're still very weak]

"Stats? What do you mean stats?". Hugo questioned.

That same interface appeared in front of Hugo, and this is what he saw there,

After Hugo was done staring at them, the interface disappeared. The only thing Hugo seemed to understand from what he saw was his name and age, he didn't really understand the rest. He knew what strength was and the rest of the other stats, but he didn't know what role they were gonna play in his existence in this world.

The system inquired of him, [ Confused?]

"Yeah, like, what are those?".

[ Those are your stats, as I've told you, you are still very weak, you need to get stronger]

"How do I get stronger?".

[ You need to train, that would help in increasing your stats. And also, you need to level up, as you can see, you're still in level one]

"How do I level up?". Hugo inquired once again.

[ That's by completing the quests that I'll be giving to you. As you complete your quests, you'll be earning Exp, and that would help you level up]

"Wow! This is the first time I'm hearing something like this. So, what is the main aim now?".

[ The main aim is to get to the 'Lotus sage academy', staying here for too long isn't a good idea. I'll guide you throughout your journey to that place]

Hugo breathed in and out, what he was about to do was dangerous, but he'll have to do it. He can't stay here forever? He's got to get to a much safer place, he was eager to see that 'Lotus sage academy'. And best of all, the system was gonna guide him throughout his journey to that place, so.

He stood up, he's been squatting all this while, it's time for the journey to begin.
