Different Worlds

Though it was still a bit early to have dinner, Evan Livares found himself having dinner with Aviana Valos in the Oasis Library's cafeteria. Still, he was surprised yet happy to see Aviana complying with almost everything he said.

It seemed like she was now truly comfortable with him.

"We should hurry if we want to finish our dinner with peace," Aviana suddenly said to him while they were both eating quietly and he didn't understand her at all.

"What do you mean?" He asked, looking at her. The rain didn't even seem to stop raining soon!

Why would they run out of time?

"Just saying," Aviana replied with that smile he often found unconvincing. "Eat. You will know it soon."

Despite the confusion that he felt, Evan quietly continued eating.

"The project... I'm not sure if we will be able to finish it by Monday," Aviana spoke up again, all while eating. "I might not come to school."

"Why? Do you have another plan?"

She nodded. "My brother is coming home. I want to go and welcome him at the airport if possible."

Evan recalled how she said that she was close to her older brother. "That's great. You must be very happy."

In an instant, a genuine smile appeared on Aviana's face. "I am. I haven't seen him for months now." She made a deliberate pause and continued, "The academic calendar there is quite different compared to the one we used in our country. Austin finished his exams the day before yesterday and he only has to wait for his results now."

"That means he won't be going back anymore?"

Aviana eagerly nodded. "He might go and visit again because he has some friends there but he will be here most of the time now as he will be working in our family business soon."

Family business.

One brief thought and Evan understood that she was talking about the Valos Group. It's only normal for the heir to start working as soon as he finished his studies.

"Did your brother just finished his MBA?" He asked and Aviana looked at him with a hint of surprisement on her face. However, rather than asking him questions, she nodded.

"Yeah. He is quite a genius when it comes to business though he sucks in other subjects." Her own words made her laugh and the sound of laughter brought a smile to Evan's face. Then all of a sudden, Aviana looked at him with a pretty serious expression.

"You said before that I don't know anything about you or others at school and you even told me to blend in more."

Evan raised a brow. Was that bothering her?

"I don't mean -"

He couldn't finish his words as Aviana interjected him.

"I think you're right but... I'm not like you," she continued with a little smile. "It's not easy for me to meet new people and get close to them. I'm very bad at that."

Evan gave a quick thought before he suggested, "Maybe you can give a try."

The smile Aviana flashed when she heard him was so sweet that it even surprised Evan Livares!

"Maybe." She nodded several times and asked, "Then why don't you become my friend, Prince Adonis?" She made a face that proved she was thinking hard before she suddenly said, "But... will that be a good idea? I don't want to become the target of all those fans of yours in our school."

Her words were immediately followed by a chuckle and it even made Evan wonder if she was serious with her offer. Noticing this, Aviana quickly said, "But I still wish we could be friends. It's very pleasant to spend time with you."

Flashing another smile at him, Aviana Valos continued eating while all Evan did was stare at her.

He was finally getting closer to his two long years crush and she even wanted to become friends!

Was this a dream?

He was about to speak up until... he noticed two men in suits making their way towards them.

Were they bodyguards or what? They really looked like one!

Before Evan could even think much, one of the two men was already halting right beside Aviana who still wasn't aware of their presence while the other halted three or four steps away.

The guard who was standing beside Aviana bowed. "Miss Valos."

Aviana clearly heard the man addressing him but... she didn't even act as she heard it! Instead, she looked at the confused Evan.

"I told you that we should hurry if we want to finish our dinner in peace," she reminded Evan about what she said before. "Remember?"

Was this what she meant? That some bodyguards will soon come looking for her?

Nevertheless, the way Aviana behaved... it was as if all these were normal.

Evan looked at the bodyguards while Aviana shut her eyes. Once she opened them again, she put down her spoon and fork. "If you are curious, I will explain later," she said to Evan and added, "I want to hear your answer too." With that said, she rose from her seat and picked up her bag. "See you at school."

Aviana looked at the bodyguard who stepped back to make way for her. Then she made her way to the door with the two men trailing behind.

Evan Livares watched Aviana for a while before he suddenly came to his sense and rose from his seat. He picked up his bag and hurriedly left the cafeteria. He ran towards the main door of the library and when he arrived at the place where he waited for Aviana earlier in the day, he saw her getting inside the car with one of the two bodyguards opening the car door for her while holding up an umbrella with the other hand. Then the bodyguard got inside the car that started moving.

With the rain still pouring heavily, all Evan Livares could do was stare at the car until it was out of his sight.

Many of Aviana's strange behavior during the hours they spent together and her reaction to those bodyguards coming to get her... he was struggling to understand everything.

Was that kind of life normal for her? He was just hit by a realization of just how their worlds differ, without even knowing that it was the same fact that Aviana thought about it several times during the day.....
