Unpredictable And Extremely Sensitive

While Evan Livares was having dinner with his family in a warm and fun atmosphere, Aviana could barely manage to swallow the luxurious foods in the extravagant Carson family mansion with much difficulty.

Mr. Edward Carson was sitting on the head of the long dining table with Aviana's parents' sitting on the chairs in his right. Aviana was sitting on the left next to Levi.

Levi Carson was an only child and the mother of the family already passed away years ago. So, it's just Levi and his father in the Carson family.

The chat went on during dinner but it was mostly between the three adults. Aviana and Levi only talked from time to time when they had to answer the question of the adults, mostly from the two domineering men who were among the most powerful businessmen in the country.

Aviana Valos paid so little attention to the talk of the adults and the dinner itself that it was like impossible for her to notice that Levi was glancing at her from time to time. She just hoped that everything would be over soon but... Mr. Edward Carson talked to her, again.

"I heard from Levi that you come first again in the last exam," the Chairman of Carson Group pointed out with a friendly smile that didn't suit him at all. "My future daughter-in-law is such a smart person and whenever I think of this fact, it makes me very happy."

Aviana only fainted a smile in response as she knew that she didn't have to answer to that. She didn't know what to say anyway.

"Both your two children are so good in their studies, Mr. Valos. I truly envy you," Edward Carson said to Daniel Valos who let out a chuckle.

"Levi is good too, Mr. Carson. He is still young but he is truly gifted when it comes to business and all." Mr. Valos made a deliberate pause and continued, "Besides, you don't have to envy me for Aviana doing well in her studies. Once she finishes her studies, she will be working in your company and her talent will be for Carson Group anyway."

Levi Carson gave Aviana a side glance and see how her hands were now below the table. He noticed her putting her hands on her lap and tightly squeezing her clothes when she heard her father's words.

What's the use of seeing her discomfort? It wasn't like there was something he could do about it.

"You have a point," Edward Carson responded to Aviana's father. "I can't wait to see our children finally growing up and working in our business. Time passed by so slow."

"You're right," Daniel Valos said with a nod. He briefly glanced at his daughter who was now back to eating her food, slowly. Then he turned away and the chat went on.

At one point, Aviana found the dinner so funny.

The adults were discussing her and Levi's future yet they never once asked their opinion as if they weren't even there.

Well, this had happened countless times and one might think that they might already get used to it but... that's not the case, at least for Aviana. She didn't know about how Levi thought.

She never did.

While Aviana forced herself to eat the dishes while listening to the talk of the two men and her mother joining them from time to time, she heard Levi's voice.

"Aviana and I are done with our dinner. Will it be okay if we go up to my room? Now that she's here, it will be great to study some subjects together."

The two fathers looked at each other and nodded right away.

"That's a great idea. Go ahead," Edward Carson said.

Levi wasted no time rising from his seat and standing next to his chair, he narrowed his eyes at Aviana, waiting for her to do the same. Aviana was feeling relieved that she will finally be able to stay far away from the talk of the two men. So, she stood up and followed Levi to his room upstairs.

As Levi Carson said to their parents, they both took a seat on the chairs, and their textbooks were placed open on the desk. However, studying was the last thing that was on their minds. They didn't even talk to each other and only sat there, quietly.

After spending that way for a few minutes, it was Aviana who finally broke the silence.

"You lie to our parents down there," she muttered. "I didn't see that coming."

"I was tired of listening to their conversation. That's why," Levi Carson promptly replied.

Aviana didn't say anything but her mind was still occupied by the conversation of her father and Levi's father from earlier.

"You hung up the call last night and I can't reach you since then," Levi spoke up, making Aviana briefly glance at him.

"I remember myself saying 'I get you' before ending the call," Aviana Valos argued.

"Aviana -"

"I was so stressed out about this dinner because I know that it won't be different from the ones in the past, Levi. Must you really call me last night just to remind me about it?" Her gaze was now fixated on Levi and the expression on her face proved how suffocating she felt about the current situation.

"When have we ever lived our lives the way we want?" Levi asked her back. "We do many things even if we don't like it and we must also refrain from doing things that we truly wish to do. Just like you, there's nothing I can do about it."

"I never expect you to do something," Aviana uttered. "But, even if your father told you to remind me, you can just lie like you did down there and told him that you already did."

After living this way for years, Aviana hated how even little things were enough to turn her into super sensitive! She wasn't usually this kind of person but... sometimes, everything was too much for her too.

Coping with the intense pressure from a young age, she wasn't new to stress and depression that often turned her unpredictable and extremely sensitive like the way she was now. At times, she couldn't even understand herself but... she knew one thing for sure.

That all the pressure she felt all the time was slowly making her lose herself.....
