A Harsh Reminder

Evan Livares started his day by having breakfast with his family as usual. However, his father had already left for another state as he told him the day before yesterday. So, it was just him, his mother, and his sister.

Once Evan reached his school wearing his Cadet Force uniform, he started getting busy with Colin right away. They checked the routines of the freshmen and picked some periods for them to have their campaign. When the teachers arrived, they met the teachers whose periods they picked out and asked them a few minutes of their periods for the campaign.

As the Army Cadet Force of the school had a great reputation and records, the teachers and even the Principal were very open to the organization. As such, it was never hard for the seniors of the school to get permission for whatever activities they were to organize.

As it had only been a week since the academic session started, all other clubs were also in the process of recruiting new members and the whole week might be full of campaigns and all. Thinking of this, Evan Livares was glad to be able to do the campaign early.

There was still half an hour before school started and Evan was with Colin in the room of the Cadet Force, going through the materials he collected for the campaign. It was only a matter of time before other seniors arrived and after around a minute, Hannah Green was the first to arrive, wearing her Cadet Force uniform just like the two men.

"Are you preparing for the campaign?" Hannah asked as she took a seat beside Evan and glanced at his laptop.

"Yeah. I prepared it as a presentation last night." He put his laptop closer to Hannah and said, "Take a look."

Hannah nodded and took a look at Evan's creative presentation. "As expected of someone in the top two," she playfully remarked and added, "You nailed this, Evan. It seems like I can rely on you today."

"Not a chance," Evan Livares replied with a little smirk. "You need to speak on behalf of the girls."

Colin Winsler chuckled at his friend's words, making Hannah frown.

"Is that an order?" She asked Evan; switching to the playful side very fast again.

Evan acted like he was thinking hard before he said, "I would appreciate it if you do your best without me having to say that but if you don't, I will have to consider."

Hannah frowned for real this time and Colin laughed at her.

"Why do you even start mentioning ranks and order?" Colin teased the frustrated Hannah Green. "If he really wants to pull ranks, then we will have to do whatever he says."

This time, it was Evan Livares who sighed in disappointment.

"I often joke about it but I never actually forced you," he bluntly said to his best friend.

"That's only because we haven't had a real session yet." Thinking of how tough his friend could be during military drills, Colin shook his head and added, "Now that you take charge of the Cadet Force, I don't even want to think further."

Hannah had the same expression as Colin and when they both noticed this, they ended up bursting into laughter while Evan Livares helplessly sighed.

"Just look at the presentation and make a change if necessary. There is still some time and we can review before we start the campaign," he said to Hannah who still had a smile on her face. Nevertheless, the latter nodded and promptly work on going through the presentation.

Evan rose from his seat and checked the routines once again to take a mental note of the time for each campaign. He will have to do it 5 times as the freshmen were divided into 5 sections this year.

Without even much thought, Evan Livares slowly walked towards the window while staring at the routine on his phone. He promptly looked away, only to notice Aviana Valos walking past the school ground with Levi Carson. It seemed like the two just arrived.

Seeing them together for the first time since he got closer to Aviana... it was like a reminder for Evan Livares.

A harsh reminder of the fact that Aviana was taken.

Why did it hurt even more than before though he saw them together all the time in the past two years?

A few seconds passed but Evan never took his gaze off the two and when he saw Levi Carson parting with Aviana to go to their respective classrooms, something urged Evan and he ended up rushing out of the Cadet Force room without even thinking twice! His action took Colin and Hannah by surprise but they didn't think much and simply continued whatever they were doing.

The next two minutes, Evan Livares ran like crazy and he found himself standing before the door to their classroom. When he glanced at Aviana through the opened doors, he saw her sitting alone just like last Friday. It was still quite early for others to arrive.

Before he could walk inside, Aviana noticed him.

"Oh! You're already here?" There was a calm smile on her face and Evan felt like she was really happy to see him.

The feeling was so good!

He nodded as he walked towards her. "I have to prepare for the campaign. I think I've been here for an hour now."

Aviana giggled at his response. "It must be tough. I admire your devotion to your responsibilities, Prince Adonis."

Evan only sighed and by now, he was standing right before Aviana.

"You won't be in the class today, right? Why are you here?"

He struggled a bit to respond but he decided to be honest. "I saw you arriving and thought I should say 'Hi'. We also have something to celebrate at lunchtime."

Aviana nodded with a hint of excitement on her face. "Text me at lunchtime and we can make plans."

"Alright," Evan replied and exchanged Aviana's smile. "You can also tell me when you're ready. I think I'll be ready earlier than you. I only need around ten minutes in each section for the campaign."

As all the clubs' came to their classroom for a campaign while they were freshmen, Aviana also knew how the campaigns were done. She didn't have to ask questions about it and she nodded in agreement. "Will do."
