Met The Enemy

"Jade, are you home yet? I saw your car," Zack's voice came into the house. He shouted so he wished that Jade could hear.

Jade immediately got up quickly but Max caught her arm quickly too. His girlfriend smelled blood and Max could see that Zack was indeed injured on the forehead.

"Or are you sleeping?" Zack asked, adding.

The vampire hunter's voice was getting closer and closer. Jade then tried to pretend to sleep facing her bedroom window. Then suddenly the door to her room opened.

"Ah, I was right. You were sleeping," Zack said later.

He closed Jade's door again and went downstairs. Meanwhile, Jade sat with a breath she couldn't hold. The smell of blood that pierced her nose was very tempting and made her thirsty.

Max still held her hand so that his girlfriend didn't dare to hurt her father. "Hey, calm down. You need to be able to control your thirst, Jade. Remember, you're still human, okay? Just imagine something you don't like and that manages to get you under control. Take a deep breath and exhale slowly," Max advised her.

Jade chose silence. She didn't know that turning into a vampire, even if only half, could make it difficult for her in many ways.

Her worries start to mount if she can't control herself in front of her father without Max by her side.

Until Jade finally started to calm down, she looked at her girlfriend. "It worked," said Jade. She was imagining something she didn't like and it made her feel sick.

Max nodded with a smile that looked relieved. The first try worked and it wasn't that hard to teach Jade. Although it still felt long and must be with patience.

"He'll sleep and while he's asleep I'll teach you how to hunt animals. Just in case you don't have a blood bag," Max said.

"A-animals? I-I can't kill animals, Max. No. They look cute and deserve to live!"

But Max shook his head. "They won't look cute anymore when you focus on your thirst."

"Is there any other way besides killing animals?"

"The only thing that doesn't harm humans is that way," Max replied.

In Jade's life, she had never killed an animal. Even the dangerous ones, she chose to hide or leave them rather than kill them.

It might be different from her father who killed animals, but Jade was too gentle to do that.

"I'll just eat human food. I'm still human," Jade said later.

"You can. But it won't last long in your body system. Would you like to see your expression that looks old from not drinking blood?"

It was terrible for Jade to hear that. She thought it would be very easy to become a vampire. But it turned out, just the basic things she must know and even had to do for her survival.

"The blood bag. What about the blood bag your family has? Can't I have one too?" Jade asked. She was still trying to be able to postpone her hunt for the first time. Kill animals.

"You'll get it too. But hunting is the main thing, as the main course, Jade. Blood bags are for the unexpected. Like yesterday. We have trusted people at the hospital to supply blood bags for us," Max explained at length.

Jade felt her body go limp, but she couldn't lower her body physically. Suddenly she realized that somehow her body felt stiff and so sturdy.

"Is this normal? My body is so stiff and sturdy?" Jade asked.

Max nodded slowly. He was sad, but he couldn't show that sadness in front of Jade. Because Jade must have felt guilty for everything that had happened.

"But, no one would suspect it, right?"

That was what Max was worried about. Zack was a vampire hunter, and so far Max didn't know if vampire hunters know what a vampire looks like or not. But when Zack came and saw his daughter, he looked normal. And all this time he looked normal in Zack's eyes.

"I don't know that part, Jade. But let's hope for something good. Because you're still human after all. Even Zack doesn't seem to recognize me," Max said.

This time Jade felt sad. Sadly, she will keep her distance from her father even though she had previously kept her distance from him. Only this time it was different. She was not fully human. Her father was a vampire hunter whereas Jade was a half-vampire human.

"You're sad," Max told me.

"Come on, let's go hunting. Is he asleep?" Jade asked him, distracting him.

Max nodded. He could see what other people were doing just by thinking about them.

Jade got up and then she bravely jumped down through her bedroom window.

Max was surprised. He didn't think Jade would dare to do such a thing. But even earlier he had seen no doubt on his girlfriend's face.

When they reached the forest, Max took her hand. "Are you okay?" he asked.

And Jade smiled at him. Maybe she had been feeling down earlier, but the adrenaline she just had was making her fine.

"I'm fine. Come after me, Max!"

Jade sped away quickly without being seen. Her speed was the first thing Max saw. He didn't know if it was one of Jade's abilities or if it was natural like other vampires. But Max himself wasn't even that fast.

Max ran to find Jade. But he found no trace of his girlfriend. It felt strange when he did not find any traces of vampires. Though he can track the traces of any vampire.

The whistling sound was melodious. He was sure that it was Jade and he chased her until the whistle drew near.

But he smelled different.

It wasn't Jade, it was Sherly. She appeared and stood in front of Max at a very close distance. Her smile broke when she saw Max.

"Hello, Max," said Sherly with a smile.

Suddenly Sherly fell and was pinned down by Jade who appeared from the tree. Jade's face looks so full of hatred. She strangled Sherly's neck so hard that she winced in pain.

"Well, you should say hi to me first, bitch!"
