Hidden Strength

Jade smiled hearing Shane finally told her about his birthday. Even though Shane didn't like things about his birthday, at least knowing when his birthday was, was enough for Jade.

She didn't know why Shane didn't like his birthday, she didn't ask because if it ended up offending Shane, she'd better avoid it.

"By the way, don't you want to know why I don't like things about my birthday?" Shane asked suddenly. Apparently instead he himself asked if Jade didn't want to know the reason.

"Just tell me if you want to tell me, I don't mind hearing it at all."

"First, why don't you ask me 'why'?" Shane asked.

"I didn't want to offend you. With me acting annoyed that you didn't want to tell me when it was your birthday, you don't look like it, don't you? So for me, just knowing your date is enough," Jade explained.

Shane smiled at her. He stroked her hair. "Thanks for appreciating me, Jade. But I'll tell you my reasons."
