Chapter 11: Scattered Shards

Reinhardt chuckled lightly, readying himself for the fight that was about to happen, his arms hovering right under his rib cage.

"You're quite the confident one aren't you?" he scoffed, distancing his feet from each other, anticipating his opponent's next move.

"What's your name?" the boy asked, completely disregarding Reinhardt's question. This action was a sign of disrespect in Reinhardt's eyes, and as such, it provoked him. He snarled lightly, fighting against his inner self who would rather skip the small talk and make the boy his next victim.

"Reinhardt Wess," he muttered, trying his very best to reach a state of calm and reason.

"Shou Yamamoto," he grinned, "Now that we're acquainted with each other, let's prepare your body bag, shall we?" he rhetorically asked, snapping his fingers which seemingly summoning a barrage of metallic projectiles behind him.

"Any last words mutt?" he asked, extending his left arm toward where Reinhardt stood, arming all the projectiles with the sound of a metallic cling as they all pointed toward where Shou pointed.

"Why are you vampiric suckers all so cocky? I really don't get it," Reinhardt groaned, stepping off from where he was, appearing before Shou within the blink of an eye, his hand open, ready to clasp onto the face of the boy before him.

Taken off guard, Shou stepped back off instinct, narrowly missing the graze of Reinhardt's long nails, a breath of relief escaping his lips the moment his safety was near secured.

"That's odd... I could've sworn that would be an instakill." Reinhardt muttered, closing and opening his palm repeatedly, "Maybe I just didn't kick off strong enough," he shrugged, readying himself to attempt the same thing once more.

"Hold on just a moment!" Shou yelled the moment Reinhardt pushed himself off, once again narrowly avoiding his dangerous claws, however, unlike the last time, Reinhardt didn't stop. He continuously slashed at Shou, forcing him to step back repeatedly until he was backed up against one of the several trees in the forest.

"Got you now!" Reinhardt exclaimed, ready to take his victory, however, the moment he raised his hand to cut down Shou, a warm liquid slowly made its way down his arm and a sudden pain shot from his palm until it was all over his body, forcing him to expel blood at various different points of his body.

"How?" Reinhardt asked, coughing out a decent amount of blood that stained the lower portions of his lip, "What happened?"

"As I said," Shou said, leaning himself off the tree, a grin on his face as he wiped the sweat off his forehead, "You stood no chance against me."

With his head held down in disappointment and failure, Reinhardt took a sniff at the air, catching on to something that he brushed over way too easily the first time. There was someone else there, but he had no idea where they are, or how to find them. He took a sniff at the air once more, trying to find them once more, but it was to no avail, he couldn't track them down.

He groaned rather loudly, anger coursing through his veins as he looked up at Shou who had his left arm raised to the sky and a large smile on his face.

"You cheat!" he yelled, "You couldn't fight me fair and square so you used underhand methods to get me? Admit it, you couldn't beat me on your own if you tried!"

The smile on Shou's face dimmed as he looked down at Reinhardt, a large shard of metal forming above his head where Shou pointed.

"I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about," he grinned, releasing his grip on the metallic shard, allowing it to fall and end the fight right there, turning himself around to walk away as it went down.

"Where the hell do you think you're going?" Reinhardt growled, a large, red aura surrounding his body, leaving nothing but a silhouette of himself visible to the naked eye. His hair grew longer and much more spiked as it fell down to his back. His figure grew slightly, putting him at a height of nearly seven feet tall and his stature above that of an average person. His claws grew exponentially, the length and thickness rivalling that of a wolverine's. The red aura danced around his body fiercely as if it were a deadly flame, holding the metallic shard in place before disintegrating it completely, his eyes locked on Shou as he regained his footing.

"I didn't say we were done here did I?"

Sebastian took a deep breath the moment he left the room, his hands shaking on the knob of the door before he released it and placed both hands over his eyes.

He groaned loudly before pulling his hands away from his face and staring down at his palms. He kept his eyes glued on his palms, leaning himself against the now-closed door and sliding down it as a look of distress formed was carved out of his facial structure. Soon enough, he balled his hands into a fist and forced himself onto his feet, looking back and forth down the hallway, spotting a few stray patients here and there, but besides that, no one else was present.

He brushed his hair back then slowly made his way down the hall, his eyes fixated on the ground and his hands in his pocket as he moved. He passed a few rooms, nearing the exit into the main lobby of the hospital he was in, however, the closer he got to the end of the wall, the stronger a certain sensation built up in his body.

He paused for a moment, his body being overwhelmed by the unease he felt in the moment. His vision blurred momentarily and a wave of nausea swept throughout his entire body, forcing him to find a place to lean on, which was next to the door of 'Room 104'. He turned his back to the wall and eased himself upon it, and in an instant, the nauseous feeling that overtook him a few seconds prior was replaced with a jolt of electricity coursing throughout Sebastian's entire body.

"Ah!" he yelped in pain, mere seconds before the pain subsided, leaving him in the neutral state he was in earlier, but now, for some unknown reason, he was drawn to whoever, or better yet, whatever was behind the door he was standing beside. His hand hovered over the handle of the door, his mind racing, scanning through several different possibilities as he attempted to decide what his best course of action should be.

He bit softly onto his lower lip, ultimately deciding to take his chances and envelope his hand around the handle, pushing the door open. On the inside, it seemed like any other room, a bed, a monitor, a few curtains, and a trapeze bar, which seemed to be the only thing somewhat unique to the room. He cautiously walked into the room, his hands out in order to help with his balance, just in case anything sudden were to happen.

Just as he'd expect, once he made his way past the door, it was forced closed, and a thin rope was wrapped around his neck. He grabbed at the rope, pulling on it as he gasped for air, spinning on his heels, thus loosening the grip his attacker had on him. This allowed him to remove the rope from around his neck and pull his attacker using the end he now firmly held onto, throwing them over his shoulder onto the floor.

As the person flew by his shoulder, he took notice of the pink hair that went down with them, allowing Sebastian to realize exactly who had attacked him, just before they hit the floor with a decently loud 'THUD'.

Corniellia groaned as she pushed herself up off the floor, annoyance on her face as she used the bed as a form of support to help her up the rest of the way.

"What would you do that for?" she snapped at him the moment she was firm on her feet.

"Not like you attacked me first or anything," Sebastian muttered, his eyes still on the area she landed as he refused to look up into her eyes, not yet.

"Yeah, but I loosened my grip the moment I realized it was you!"

Sebastian didn't answer her statement, as he only looked over to the side of the room, allowing the silence to sit for a few more seconds before Corniellia broke it.

"Anywho, you didn't see anyone else pass by here did you?"

"No? Why do you ask?"

"That's odd... I'm sure I felt... Something."

"You felt that too?" Sebastian asked, a singular eyebrow raised as he looked her in the eye at last.

Corniellia's suddenly went quiet, staring over at Sebastian first with a look of confusion, but that quickly changed to one of distraught as she mentally connected the pieces together.

"No," she chuckled, "You shouldn't joke around like that Seb, I'm being serious here."

"Who said I was joking? What was that feeling Corniellia? Are you going to tell me or am I going to have to beat it out of you?"

"You wouldn't hit a girl right?" she chuckled once more, both her hands held up in surrender.

"That doesn't matter anymore, you're not one of us... You don't matter anymore," he replied, his fists clenched as he assumed a battle stance, "So, I'd suggest you start talking and fast."
