Leaving Asia; welcome to America

Myles sat on the chair in the living room as he watched his mother pack their stuffs, it really pained him that he was leaving Asia, he never wanted to leave. He had friends with whom he wanted to stay with. He folded his arms at his chest and watched his mother pace from the bedroom to the sitting room, carrying one thing or the other.

”Myles! Aren’t you going to help me” Claire asked eyeing him “help?! How?” Myles asked “by packing the toys in your bedroom” Claire replied “mom please I told you I don’t want to leave Asia” Myles said “why?” Claire asked “mom I have friends in Asia, I don’t want to leave them, they are part of my family” Myles argued

Claire walked up to him and sat beside him “sweetheart, I know you don’t want to leave Asia but I have to go to America so that I can get a new job, mommy needs a better job” Claire said patting his head “what happened to your old job?” Myles asked “it is not sufficient enough to take care of me talk less of you” Claire reprimanded.

”are they not better job opportunities in Asia” Myles asked his mother “Myles we have talked about this, this shouldn’t be a problem now” Claire added getting up to her feet and walking away.

Myles swallowed deep and of course didn’t help his mother as she suggested, instead he played video games. His mother; Claire chose to ignore him besides she had lot of things to do before the time for their flight.

Claire packed all their belongings, and she went around the house to make sure she didn’t forget a damn pin.

“Myles hurry up we would be late for our flight” Claire yelled, despite the fact that Myles didn’t want to leave, he made sure he didn’t make his mother miss their flight else he would be a dead meat. “I’m coming mom” he yelled from inside the house.

finally Myles was out and good to go, Claire boarded a private taxi in order not to be late for the flight. All along during the ride no one talked, Claire was busy with her phone while he son was watching the city through the window. He breathed in heavily when they arrived the airport, yea he was doing this, he was leaving Asia.

Claire checked their flight in and handed their luggage to the aircraft while she came back to wait for the flight to take off.

”when do we take of?” Myles asked “not long, sooner or later” his mother replied, playing candy crush on her phone.

the plane which was to convey them finally arrived and they took their seat number. The flight finally took off. Bye bye to Asia

Myles didn’t know when a drop of tear fell from his eyes, it was until his mother wiped it of his face he noticed he was crying “I am sorry Myles, it is what is best” Claire told him “I know mom” Myles stated “I promise you Myles that you would make new friends in America” Claire said ruffling his hair “okay mom” Myles finally gave in, even if he did not give in there is no hope for him coming to Asia, he had to go face his new life in America.

“The flight would last for fifteen hours, so I think it is best for you to sleep” Claire suggested.

their flight landed in America early hours, they disembarked from the plane and when Claire stood outside the airport, she sighted her best friend from afar. She was leaning on an airport taxi.

”good morning Emerald” Claire greeted Em and she turned to view her “haaaaaaah it’s been a long time” Em said and hugged her. The duo hugged for close to five minutes before they released each other

“Em you haven’t changed a single bit, same old girl back in those days” Claire complimented “oh! Please, look at you so pretty and” Em paused to look at Myles “Myles, right?” Em asked “yes ma’am, good morning” Myles greeted “first refer to me as aunt Em and good morning, how are you” she asked “I am fine” Myles replied.

Em took them to their new house, it was a two room apartment which they spent the whole day cleaning up. Dinner was leftover Asian bread.
