Jeff held Claire's hand firm while the both of them walked to the doctor's office, when they arrived Jeff and Claire sat on the chairs waiting for the doctor to speak

"Mr Jeff Mega, your sister's head was hit by a what seems like a bottle, we tried stitching it but we realized that it had some effects on her brain, so that why we needed you to sign the papers" the doctor said "is she alright?" Asked Jeff as he was already looking so tensed up

"calm down Mr Jeff, your sister is not dead, she is still alive though unconscious" the doctor said "so what about the effects on her brain, is it all taken care of?" this time around it was Claire who asked "

yes, but she needs some time to heal" "how long?" Jeff asked "probably, I think she needs years to heal perfectly" the doctor said "years! why doctor?" Jeff asked

"it affected a sensitive part in her brain, in fact the brain itself is very sensitive, any little thing can harm it" the doctor said while Jeff relaxed his back on the chair, Claire was also looking tensed "doctor, if I may ask how many years do you think she is going to heal perfectly?" Claire asked

"approximately three years, or more if not treated properly" Jeff stood up and left the doctor's office without saying a single word, Claire looked at him, she wanted to stop him but she couldn't, she pitted him, she knew how hard it was for him "thank God he is gone, I don't want him to have heart attack" Claire spoke lowly but the doctor heard her

"doctor, what are the side effects? "Well, it would be hard for her to remember events, it would take her long time before she remembers what had happened and in most cases she would suffer from a serious headache, if not taken care of properly it would make her go insane" "oh my goodness, I hope there are medications for it" "of course yes, all she has to do is to be taking it according to dosage and she will be fine, but these medicines are usually very expensive" "money is not going to be a hindrance, I trust her brother, thank you so much doctor" "thank you too ma, take care of Jeff properly" the doctor added with a smile,

Claire walked out of his office trying to understand the consequences of this injury, when she arrived the reception office, she met McDonald and Lea trying to talk to Jeff but it looked he wasn't answering their questions, when Lea saw Claire she quickly ran to meet her "what happened? what did the doctor say?" Lea asked, Claire breathed in deeply she told McDonald and Lea everything that happened in the doctor's office, Jeff who was sitting down angrily stood up "I want to be left alone" he said before he went outside "I'm going after him" Claire said "I don't think that it is a good idea, he means whatever he says" McDonald said but Claire left

Outside was dark already, it was hard for Claire to locate Jeff, after a while of standing, she saw him leaning on his car, his head was bent low, as she approached slowly, she noticed that there was tears in his eyes, 'is Jeff crying?' She asked in her head.

Jeff felt cold hands wiping away his tears, looking at those hands he realized that it belonged to Claire "I told you I want to be left…"

what happened next was really very shocking, Claire cut Jeff off by slamming her lips on his, the kiss lasted for about some minutes, finally she pulled away and looked at him

"Jeff you can always count on me on anything, I will always be there for you" Claire spoke boldly "I understand how it feels when someone tells me that my sister had a brain injury and heal it is going to take years to heal, it's really very painful" Claire added, Jeff looked directly into her eyes before walking out

Claire quietly followed him, he went straight to the doctor's office but it was locked "what do you want from the doctor?" Claire asked "to know who brought her here and know exactly what happened and how to handle the issue" Jeff said while he was still speaking to Claire the doctor arrived

"doctor, please I want to know who brought her to the hospital and what happened" Jeff stated "she will be right here any moment from now, I knew you would love to get to the bottom of the issue, relax yourself, your sister is under our care and when the woman comes we will inform you" the doctor said, Jeff didn't say a word, he abruptly left,Claire apologized on his behalf and also left

McDonald and Lea sat beside each other while Jeff sat on the chair opposite them, Claire walked to him and sat beside him, she intertwined her fingers with his, Claire leaned on his shoulder, a nurse approached them

"Mr Jeff Mega, the doctor wants to see you in his office now" the woman said, both Jeff and Claire went to the doctor's office, arriving his office, an old lady sat on one of the chairs, Claire sat on the other while Jeff remained standing "madam, could you please tell us what happened to Mrs Kate Tan" the doctor asked

"Today, I was in my apartment upstairs, looking downstairs, I saw when Mr Jackson arrived home and started shouting at his wife, it was very usual for him to come home and shout at her but the only unusual thing was that Mrs Kate Tan shouted back at him, he dragged her inside the house and locked, I tried opening it but all to no avail, all I could do was to listen to her screams and cries, finally he opened the door and drove out, I quickly rushed inside the building and found Mrs Kate Tan lying unconscious on the ground with pieces of broken bottle on the floor" the woman narrated

Jeff was already sweating profusely, the anger was nothing to write home about, he looked at the woman, Claire and the doctor before walking out of the office, Claire immediately went after him, "hello Mr DPO{deputy police officer}, my sister was almost killed today by her husband, I need you make this a case of concern, make it a national case, whatever it cost I'm ready to pay" Claire heard Jeff speak, he hanged up the call looking very furious, Claire was taken aback by what she saw, he looked like a devil looking for a prey.
