Peacful Days With the Witch Glenda

When I awoke I honestly expected to see an arrogant beauty but to my surprise I instead saw what appeared to be a young witch. I mean to say she had a black robe and pointy hat she was the definition of a witch with the exception of her delicate appearance.

She had long blonde hair and clear emerald eyes. she was also smiling which was a first for me in this life. It was by all means a breath of fresh air compared to the recent events as of late.

"Tell me youngling what brings you out so far into the mountains. I don't often have visitors this far out."

Her voice was ragged and sounded as if it hadn't been used in quite some time. I would've guessed she was much older if it was based on this alone.

"I was kicked out of my house and didn't have anywhere to go and while walking I ended up here."

"I see that's definitely a strange turn of events. I never expected such a young lad to end up here. Well I can't just let you back out with the weather this time of year. To think parents would leave their child this time of year. I suppose it's to be expected of hum-" she said before coughing several times.

"I'm sorry it's been quite some time since I've used my voice so it's a bit ragged. Regardless though you're free to stay here until spring arrives and I'll try to help you find a place when that time comes around."

"Are you sure? I wouldn't want to impose." I was honestly a little skeeved out I mean who offers a stranger room and board for nothing. People aren't like that. They always expect something.

"Yes it's no issue at all but I do have a few rules of the house you'll have to follow."

Bingo I knew she wouldn't just let be stay here free of charge. I just hope she's not one of those shota fan girls. We might have an issue if that's the case.

"Really? Well I don't mind. What did you need?"

"The first rule is that you'll help me out around with the chores. It's important for a boy your age to get a sense of responsibility. The second is you'll be in bed by 9 PM; a boy your age needs sleep to grow and finally the third and most important rule is that under no circumstances will you go into the basement. If you agree to these terms I'll allow you to stay. Is that understood?"

"Yes ma'am but if I may ask why not the basement?" My horror movie radar was going off and if I've learned anything it's when a person tells you you can't enter a room they're probably doing something shady inside.

"It's no issue. That area is my private work area. I have a lot of rare ingredients kept there. The kind that if they got damaged or stolen it would be more expensive to replace then your life is worth. and if it's ok I've been wondering why your parent's kicked you out? It's not often that parents would just leave a child to run around the wilderness."

"Umm... yeah it's ok" I was honestly not sure what to say. Judging by my dad's reaction to me being magicless I couldn't just tell her that.

"As you know it's winter and my family is poor. I was just another mouth to feed and since my talent wasn't as good as my brothers they decided I was the best to get rid of to make it through."

I mean not technically a lie. They did kick me out because I have no magical talent.

"I see that's unfortunately not an uncommon story. I'm glad you found your way here then. Well you should rest some more. I imagine your still tired and don't forget the rules starting tomorrow you'll be expected to keep them properly."

And with that she turned and left the room. I would say I had some type of game plan but that would be a lie honestly as she said I was exhausted and could hardly wait to go back to sleep.

As I drifted off I had a strange dream.

In the dream I saw a great forest but strangely the trees weren't just trees withing every tree resided a person and the people were constantly fighting and with each defeat one would take a little piece of the other.

When the morning came and I woke up I left my room to search for the strange woman and sure enough I found her preparing breakfast.

"You're up early. I guess it makes sense with how much you slept yesterday. Well it's not much but here's something to eat."

What she poured in a bowl could only be described as a witches brew. It was purple and had a strange mist rising off it. I honestly wasn't sure if this would kill me but strangely as I took a bite it was delicious.

"this is so good. I thought it'd be awful."

"Rude. I know I'm not much of a cook but I at least know my way around. This meal has everything you need too. It's the perfect food for a youngling like you."

And just like that my days with the lady began. She later remembered to tell me her name which was Glenda.

My responsibilities were just as she said basic chores such as cleaning the dishes and sweeping. She also did more than give me room and board she also taught me many lessons and helped me to understand the world a little better.

To start this world is obviously not earth. It's a place called Gaia. and the country which we currently reside is the human kingdom of Roland.

Other then than Roland there also exists it's neighbor the beastman Kingdom of Drayas and within that kingdom the forest of elves which is known as the Eternal Forest and finally the demon kingdom of Lax.

Under these kingdoms exists a plethora of deities. The humans follow the human goddess Layas which we met previously the goddess of purity whose name is unrecorded and the goddess of nature Drayas who shares her name with the beastmen kingdom whom also follows her.

The beastmen however also follow the god of rage Malcus and the god of pleasure Eros which give them a strained relationship with the humans because of this.

The elves only follow Drayas and finally the demons only follow the goddess of darkness Lilith who recently replaced the former god her father.

There is strangely also gods no one follows like the god of madness Vilkas, the god of death Hades and the god of time Chronos but from what I can tell they are the only outliers.

Her lessons where extremely beneficial and from what I can tell it wasn't common to get these kinds of things in this world. The days I peacefully went through here went on for a total of three months. It wasn't because winter ended though you see after this time. I saw what what was in the basement.
