A Wild Ride

The first stop on Stella's fashion whirlwind was a small boutique by the name of Blossoming Beauty. The black and gold embroidery coupled with the simple but elegant dresses in the showcase gave a delightfully enticing aura. Upon entering it took Lorelai a moment to catch her breath as her eyes adjusted to lighting inside.

The walls had several mannequins to show off various possible outfits choices while next to them had a myriad of colors and cut variations of what was presented. The stage like light bulbs served as a miniature spotlight for the mannequins while also illuminating the room in a gentle orange glow.

Lorelai's brain quickly tried to process all the information of her surroundings but before she could wrap her head around it she was pulled towards a long flowing blue dress that looked like the waves of the ocean on a clear sunny day. The cut was simple and elegant to help extenuate the mannequins gentle curves.

"So what do you think Lorelai? I think you would be absolutely adorable in it."

"If this is what you wish for, Miss Stella."

Lorelai was more so taking in the dress as she mumbled out her response. However deep down Lorelai thought that it just would fit her right and honestly she would probably sunder the beauty of this marvel.

"You are infuriating! Is this how you are going to be all day?"

Lorelai clearly didn't notice Stella's reaction to her reply but the loudness of her voice coupled with the glances of the various customers made Lorelai want to disappear. However the pouting visage of Stella as she stood there arms crossed and tapping her foot caused a gentle smile to form on her lips.

"I am sorry Miss Stella. I am just a fish out of water when it comes to these decisions."

"First off, drop the miss. It feels weird and honestly we have to be more comfortable around each other right'

"Yes Yes."

"Now are you gonna tell me your thoughts on the dress?"

"It is pretty."

"You are not gonna make it easy on me are you?"

Lorelai just stared into those ruby eyes in utter bewilderment to which she was met by playful frustration followed by a deep sigh. With a devious look Stella called over one of the various attendants.

"Hai, You see my girlfriend here is in desperate need of a formal dress. If you wouldn't mind please show her to a dressing room and have her try on all of your various cuts that would suit her."

"Wait, what did you just say Stella?" mumbled Lorelai with visible panic.

"Well if you are uncomfortable or unsure some familiarity on the topic will get you well acquainted." said Stella with a devious smile as she was led off by various attendants.

After several hours later, lots of complaining, hundreds of dresses and several boutiques the pair had arrived right back where they started in Blossoming Beauty with that same blue sea dress. At this point Lorelai looked as though she was just forced to run a marathon in heels. Stella on the other hand had that same devious smile all day and seemed rather unfazed by the events

"Well we are right back here with nothing to show so Lorelai what's the plan?"

"Please let's just take this one I guess."

"But you said it didn't feel right the first time?"

"It is fine I surrender. Plus you said I look cute or something on the right."

"Not so fast. As I said before, I prefer your comfort. So if that is truly what you like, look me in the eyes and say it."

Mallory wanted this god forsaken trip over with but for some unknown reason she couldn't muster the strength to meet Stella's eye with her reply.

"Exactly! I guess we need to keep shopping!"

"Please no!"

"Wait actually I just had a rubtastic idea!"

"Huh?"

Lorelai couldn't help but wonder what rubtastic meant but instead decided to ignore it.

"Lorelai, I want you to try on one last outfit and then we can decide between that one and your current one."

"Sounds delightful Stella."

Lorelai couldn't help but suppress the feeling of defeat and fright as she looked on as Stella whispered something into the attendant's ear. After a few moments Lorelai walked out with a clean cut waistcoat vest and matching slacks that made up the ensemble of a form fitted navy blue suit. The long sleeved cotton undershirt is accentuated by thighs and cuffs that match Mallory's normally sapphire eyes.

"Oh My God! You're hot!" practically screams Stella.

Lorelai was left in that changing room cause this look and feel was all Mallory. This outfit just felt right. Mallory couldn't hide the blush that coated her cheeks in response to Stella's reaction because for some reason that compliment and joy just felt genuine.

"So I am guessing you like it?"

"I do but more importantly, do you like it?"

"Honestly yes."

"Well then I guess this is your outfit."

"I guess so."

After several moments of awkward silence Stella finally mustered the courage to walk up to Mallory and lean in. Mallory's heart was about to explode for in that moment the slightly taller Stella leaned in towards her. Stella's warm breaths gently brushed against Mallory's ear as she whispered, "Mind if you take off the wig and just be you for a moment Mallory?"

In that split moment Mallory brain short circuited as she tried to muster up a response. Somehow Stella had managed to stick a knife straight through all of Mallory's defenses and she began to feel very exposed.

"We had an agreement. Just buy the dress." squeaked Mallory as she ran back into the changing room to recuperate. Slowly but surely Mallory was able to rebuild her walls and establish Lorelai. With her mask secured Lorelai left the changing room with a smile.

"Did you get the dress organized?"

"Here you go, Lorelai. I think I am gonna take my leave now that business is over."

Lorelai couldn't help but wonder if she did something wrong as she grasped the dress to her chest as Stella left the boutique with her head hung low.
