Chapter 12: Trouble on the Road

It was grueling. He knew he was only given a small portion of it, but even this comparatively minor pack had him inwardly groaning within a few minutes of travel. Looking ahead of him, he saw Janesca trudging ahead with minimal difficulty, walking ahead with a sort of patient dedication that only came with constant traveling.

Her pack was bigger than his, but that didn’t seem to hamper her movement all that much. With her back straight and her legs carrying her on a steady walk, she looked like this was a natural form of travel for her.

Behind him was Raymond, who was maintaining his careful distance from the female paladin. He was walking completely unencumbered, being the only in their merry band who didn’t have to carry anything. It had him shooting the white stallion a dirty look on occasion, especially when the creature deigned fit to walk right beside him.

“Lazy bastard.” He muttered.
