The guards were as stern as one would expect, all frowning in a mixture of boredom and professionalism. A few openly stared at Janesca’s dirtied appearance but said nothing, but even more were staring at the girl hoisted over her shoulder. One of the larger guards lumbered over to them, a quill and clipboard in hand. “Place the girl down please, and please state your name and affiliation.”
Letting the girl’s weight slide off her shoulder, it only took one arm to set her unconscious form gently on the ground. A few of the spearmen standing out in the open peered over, curious as to why someone so small was apparently unconscious.
Janesca squared her shoulders. “My name is Janesca Well, I am a member of the Paladin Order. This—” She gestured towards the small heap on the ground. “Is a mage I apprehended on the road. She is a minor.”
