Soon, maids began to fill the room to see what was going on as the scream was quite alarming. One by one, they all came in to see the little girl on the floor, in tears with a face as red as a tomato with a little streak of blood on her forehead but, none of the maids dared to approach the girl because they knew how her father was when it came to situations surrounding her and maids.
Egan was on the floor beside Morrigan, trying to at least make the girl stop screaming "DON'T TOUCH ME!" She yelled in a cranky voice.
John, the butler came in and dismissed all the maids quickly telling them that they had better work to do than watch two kids playing around. He sat down beside wailing Morrigan and tried to touch her but Egan got a hold of his hand in the nick of time.
The butler opened his mouth to say something but Egan beat him to it saying "No.One.Touches.Her" as he stared right into the butler's eyes, making a cold shiver run down John's spine. Even the butler doubted the boy was blind.
Immediately, both fathers of the children came into the room. It had taken them so long to get here because where they were was on the other side of the huge mansion. "Can someone explain what is going on here" Lazarus asked in a sharp tone.
His eyes were fixated on the scene set before him and was that…blood on Morrigan's forehead? While Lazarus had a shocked disposition on his face, Earl calmly went to this daughter's side and quietly picked her up. "Children play and run and get injured all the time. There's no big deal but where there will be a problem is if someone had touched my daughter" he said before leaving all of them in the room but John turned a little bit tense.
How did the man know?
Egan and John stood up and immediately began to speak "My Grace, if I may -"
"Father, I can explain," Egan interrupted.
Lazarus waved his hand at John who bowed and left the room. "Speak"
"She was running and then, she tripped and hit her head"
"And why was she running?" Lazarus asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Because…I told her that I would rather befriend a horse than her"
"Why"
"Because I don't like her"
"Hmmm…Very interesting" his father said sarcastically while stroking his chin. "And, she touched the piano"
Lazarus sighed at his son's words. He knew where this was going. Just like how Earl and Aubrielle's thing was bathing and braiding, Lazarus' thing with his wife was music. They used to spend time in this room all the time, and his wife's favorite instrument to play was the piano. She would sit on it for hours, playing to her heart's content. She had even written a number of pieces, some of which he had taught Egan who grew a strong attachment to the instrument. He never allowed anyone to go near it, talk less of touching it. Except for himself and his father.
When Morrigan touched it, it must have made him angry but that didn't mean he hadn't noticed the wall of distaste Egan would build whenever Morrigan was around. He wondered why it was so.
"That still isn't a valid excuse to say such hurtful things to Morrigan and as punishment, you will be spending a whole week at their mansion. Just so that you can get to see how sweet she is"
