How much has the world changed.

Lanius felt as if his head was going to break. One moment he was looking at a beautiful vastaya and the other he felt as if he had been slammed in the back of the head with a log. He propably fell and then... Darkness... He was too weak...

...

...

...

...Barking?

"Dad! Look, over there!"

That was Modern Demacian? The voice belonged to a boy.

"Quickly, help me carry him!"

Two voices. This one belonged to a man. Lanius felt that he was lifted. If only he could speak. Lanius lost and regained consciousness many time during the duration of his moving.

"Altair, What happened to him?" a new voice, it belonged to a woman.

"No time to explain Yellina, we nee-" at that point, Lanius fainted again.

Lanius saw the weirdest dream. He was...wandering in the snow. He did not know where he was.

He looked around when he suddenly felt something behind him. Lanius turned around...seeing an enormous ice phoenix. Lanius looked at the being with awe.

The myths were true...it was The Frostbringer. Below her was a female looking spirit. The spirit opened her mouth. Her crystal voice made the young man feel as if he was falling from the sky.

"Lanius, wake up..."

.

.

.

"Boy?...boy! Boy wake up!" he suddenly felt somebody shake him.

Lanius opened his eyes, seeing a man in his early 40's. He was dressed as an average hunter and seemed quite muscular. Despite speaking Demacian earlier, he talked to him in Ionian.

"Ah...you're awake at last! Thought that the Lamb was about to take you."

Lanius opened his mouth, also speaking in Ionian.

"Wuh...where am I?" His voice sounded harsh to him, as if he had a sore throat.

"You're currently in a safe place. Me and my son...or rather our poro, found you unconscious yesterday deep in the forest. Though that something attacked you so we took you here." the man said.

"But...why did you help me, aren't I a stranger?" Lanius then asked.

"Boy, we don't care about you being a stranger. You were weak and we just wouldn't let you die." the man just exclaimed.

"I...appreciate it..." Lanius thanked him.

"Don't worry about it. Its just how I would act anyway...now, I believe dinner's ready. You've been sleeping for a whole day so you must be hungry."

"Thank you very much again." Lanius tried to get up, only to tremble. The man grabbed him from the arm and helped him walk to the table. Once they arrived at the kitchen, a female Vastaya that resembled a humanoid rabbit with blonde hair approached the table with a steaming pot.

A boy in its early teens also approached the table, followed by a poro.

"Oh, he's awake?" she said in Demacian.

"This here is my wife Yellina and this is my son, Casper." the man said. "My name is Altair, I'm a humble hunter that resides in these woods." he added.

"My name is Lanius. I'm just a traveller that passed by your woods and got ill." he lied, talking in Ionian.

"Oh dear, your voice is terrible. Don't worry tho, we'll fix this with some stew." Yellina said.

"Thank you very much." Lanius said as all of them sat down. As they began to eat, Lanius saw with the corner of his eye that the boy was staring at him. Yellina also noticed this.

"Casper, don't stare at the boy." she whispered in Demacian.

"It's all right. It's the eye, isn't it?" he replied in Demacian.

"Oh... so you speak Demacian?" Altair asked with a curious look in his face.

"I'm not that fluent in it, but Modern Demacian are also spoken here. Are you Demacian, Altair? " Lanius explained.

"I was born there but I moved here 30 years ago. I was planning on moving back there but then I met Yellina..." Altair gently took his wife's hand and kissed it. "...And decided to stay here. But what about you?"

"I was born here. My father was a Freljordian and my mother was a Vastaya. Then... There's a giant memory gap...Its as if that part was just scooped out of my memories. " Lanius said, looking at his bowl.

"Do you remember anything from the war?" Altair asked.

"What war?" Lanius asked back with a puzzled look.

"The great war...when Noxus invaded us." Yellina said.

"When did this happen... How much did it last?"

"It all happened thirteen years ago. After the year without snow. " Altair then said.

"Thirteen years? Fourteen years then... fourteen years trapped in a slumber..." Lanius began to panic.

"Lanius? Are you okay!? " Yellina looked alarmed.

Lanius was about to have a mental breakdown. The memories flashed past him again. The violent blizzard. The village burned, corpses everywhere. Him looking around, kneeling on the ground, his eyes filled with despair. And then...

"Lanius...brace yourself..." Freida's voice called for him. He then felt his body freeze, as if his blood was replaced with ice. Lanius panicked.

"Do not be afraid, you are the last of the Verhea now, you must be the new Winter."

"W-why me?" he questioned as tears begun streaming down his cheeks.

"You must stay strong young one. Don't worry, I am with you." The spirit replied.

Lanius cried inwards, before yelling interrupted them.

"THERE HE IS, GET HIM!"

"THE WITCH WANTS HIM ALIVE!"

Lanius turned his head, seeing a dozen of Noxian soldiers rushing towards him.

"You...you decimated my people...YOU.WILL.PAY!" He yelled in his head, felling that his brain was going to explode.

All the rage that was deep inside him got out. After letting out a growl, he stood up, clenching his fists as ice gauntlets formed around them. A blood curdling scream erupted from his gaping jaw.

"UAAAAAARG!"

He charged fists first at the soldiers, crushing each one of them. It made him feel relieved. He didn't stop till a laugh made him turn around. There a woman stood. Lanius realised that it was the witch.

"You...you did this?" he asked with a growl.

"Yes...and all to get you." the witch smirked as Lanius charged at her, but as his fist hit her, she vanished. Her maniacal laughed echoed through the blizzard. Gold chains the pinned him down, before he felt his heard to burn.

"No!" Freida screamed and so did he. The last image he saw was the witch smiling with a sadistic face at him. Then darkness. Only he and Freida's voice.
