004 Unbalanced

Illio sat himself in the sleek black Chronosphere capsule. With a push of a button, the door closed and he was effectively shut off from the world. After checking and adjusting the ambient settings, he grabbed the semicircle headset and placed it on the back of his neck. Branches stemmed from the semicircle and they followed the contour of his neck with two circular disks laying flush beneath his ears at the end of them.

With one final check the system stood telling him that he was clear to proceed.

Looking up he was laid back on the comfortable inner recliner and spoke:

"Login!"

Instantly a soft pulse was heard and the machine began scanning Illio's Retinas in order to create biometric safety measures against account thievery. Soon after he began losing consciousness. Seconds later he awoke in a plain white room with a menu before him for character customization.

SOS was fantasy so users could change how they looked to suit their preferences and experience a fuller immersion.

Illio didn't care for this however and simply allowed the Chronosphere to scan his body and transfer the data to the game. This process gave him the same appearance as in reality.

Standing at 188cm, waist long black curly hair, thin body, and fair colored skin with soft iridescent blue eyes, Illio looked exactly as he would in reality.

He was a bit surprised as the system got his high cheek bones as well.

Illio was about to proceed but after looking at himself for a while decided to have a little fun. He wanted to change who he would be but not forget who he was.

Character design was perfect for it. Everyone chose to go extreme with their characters but he didn't do anything too drastic.

With a simple dye of his hair to make it go from jet black to gray silver and change the color of his eyes. They went from that soft flowing blue to a dark rich and vibrant red.

That was enough for him.

This would be his new persona. When prompted for a name, Illio gave his own. Why bother changing it? There was no point in complicating things and as he set out to make a name for himself why not under his true name?

Illio finished up and was ready to start the game. He pressed continue and then suddenly something unusual happened.

Once the character customization was done, the player would then be sent to the tutorial village where they would learn the basics of the game before setting off to explore the land of Luna.

Illio however was not sent like all before him. Instead a different menu appeared.

Like many others, he knew the ins and the outs of how the game functioned almost by heart.

While this was his first time experiencing SOS, he knew that this extra menu wasn't normal. With just a twinge of hesitation in his heart, Illio maximized the menu and instantly his vision blackened and words began to form.

The screen now completely black, images began filling the blackness. They formed almost a movie and before Illio could question what was going on, a deep booming male voice started narrating the tale playing before him as the on screen images perfectly followed.

It was a familiar tale to all, the rise of Alexander, The first player in Sword Of Sacrifice. His contributions since the beginning of the game were so much that he had drastically shifted world history in Luna.

"Clearly what is playing are his epics but what does this have to do with anything?"

These were Illio's thoughts as he continued to pay attention to the story before him.

"10 years ago when evil began rising up through the cracks of the earth, humanity began making its way back to the brink of extinction. Corruption took ahold of the hearts of many and as evil blossomed throughout the land, it allowed the perfect environment for monsters to start encroaching the land of Luna. A pecking order was established and humans were placed at the bottom. Suffering from famine and persecution humanity was quickly hunted to a point of nonexistence until the fateful day where The Hero of Luna appeared from no where to save the oppressed."

Images of Alexander flooded Illio's vision. They regaled him with the story that everyone in the world knew. Alexander's rise to the pinnacle. To the position of Ultimate Swordsman.

"As the Hero vanquished evil everywhere and brought peace to the land, people were joyous and with the aid of prosperity and peace, humanity began to rule once again over Luna. Establishing cities, civilizations and repopulating the land. However unbeknownst to all, an ancient evil that had been forgotten by time was lurking and plotting its ultimate revenge against humanity."

Illio's eyes widened in surprise at the last line. This wasn't known to anyone…was this a new episode?

When enough progression happens in SOS, new quests and new storylines are integrated into the game and new content was unlocked for all to enjoy. Was this it? Would he be a part of the new content?!

This would be incredible to boost his reputation if it was.

The screen darkened again and this time only the narrative voice was heard once more.

"Long ago when an incarnation evil ruled the land, darkness and destruction ravaged humanity and the brink of extinction was a hairs breadth away. Across the land of Luna many fought valiantly and just as quickly as they rose, they perished in battle. However amidst the chaos of the land and the despair clinging to humanities hearts, hope blossomed.

10 Legends were born. Each a mighty warrior in their own right. They came about and overturned reason to bring back hope and peace throughout Luna. The 10 Legends traveled the entire land, destroying evil everywhere they went and they left behind myths of their heroic deeds.

Unfortunately, when they gathered together for the first time, it was also their last as the final key to sealing away the source of this ancient evil was to sacrifice themselves. With no hesitation in any of their hearts, the 10 legends gladly closed their eyes to give the future generations a chance to open theirs.

With this sacrifice in place, the great evil was defeated and sealed and peace once again returned to Luna.

Years passed and even to this day the the myths left behind by those 10 are still spoken about as humanity is grateful for their contribution to peace. Evil however never rests and through the passing of time came about dastardly methods developed and used to break the seal once placed on the Evil.

Sensing that corruption would take place in the future after they are gone and would begin to claim the hearts of humanity again, The 10 legends prepared ahead and willed their status to the future.

"Those who are worthy of claiming their power have the right to rule supreme."

Illio's words echoed for none to hear.

"The choice couldn't be more obvious!" Thought Illio.

Berserkers were known For their insane attack but suffered from low defense when their health drops past a certain point.

However this class eliminates that penalty. Sure maybe the penalty is enforced in some other way, but there would be no need to worry if that's the case since he would wield immortal power.

"The Advent of Chaos class sounds incredible…This is the obvious choice instead of taking some unknown risk that may or may not pay off."

Just as Illio was going to make his decision, he was interrupted by his incredibly bad luck.
