Ryan felt himself smolder with resentment at the man standing in front of him. What parent would hate their child so much they would say such things? At this moment, he was not interested in what had happened in the past, but this display was not something he was going to let slide.
With swift strides, he reached Luke, and held him by the collar.
“Now listen here, you do not come to my house and disrespect my bride-to-be like that. You might have had the freedom to treat Lia like a leper in your household, but not in mine. In this domain, I am the king, and that woman you were demeaning is the queen.” Rage pulsed through his veins as he heard his mom begging for him to release the older man.
Ryan fought to swallow his frustration and let Luke go.
“I think everybody must calm down,” his mom pleaded.
“I’m simply trying to save you from shame. She is my daughter, and I know what she is capable of, Mr. Nash!” Luke exclaimed as he straightened his collar.
