Chapter 10: Fool Me Once

I finally made it to the bus stop. I had walked for maybe ten minutes before I made it, and I was grateful to sit down. Honestly, the further away from Chase, the better.

The next bus didn’t arrive until seven, so I had another fifteen minutes or so to wait. I had been waiting for thirty minutes at this point. It was starting to get dark. My phone went off.

It was my mom. “Are you having fun?” she asked. I wouldn’t dare tell her the truth. She would come to pick me up, and that would kill me. She already thought that I was at the movies with Hannah.

“Yeah, might come home soon though. The movie is almost over.” I texted back and shoved my phone back in my pocket. My phone buzzed again, but I could not get away with not responding since I was allegedly in the movie theatre.

The sound of a motorcycle caught up to me. As I turned, I saw Chase’s bike zoom past me. It turned around. He flipped his face shield up.

“Aria, come on, please!” he shouted over the loudness of the bike.
