A teacher found us in the bathroom. We were forced to get back to class. Chase left for the day. That much was clear. The explosion was being talked about all over the school. Whispers, stares, and sometimes outright pointing came in my direction.
“This is hell,” I muttered to myself.
“Oh, how the mighty have fallen.” A voice came up behind me, sending the hairs on my neck straight up. Speaking of hell.
“Not today, Courtney.” I kept walking, hoping that if I ignored her enough, she would lose interest.
“Oh, why not? Today is such a special day. Today is the day when everyone in school, including Chase, learned exactly what I always knew. You are nothing, school scum, a loser,” she sang to me, making me want to punch her in the face.
“Clever, do you mind?” I tried to step around her, but she moved with me.
