Chapter 31: Standing Up for the Truth

The next day came quickly, and I was feeling high. I didn’t like to cause problems, but to out this ridiculous secret would relieve some pressure. Hannah was nowhere to be seen, but I knew she would show up eventually. I saw Chase, Luke, and the rest of his group halfway down the hall. I hated when they were together. It was overwhelming, but why wait until later?

I tried to feel okay with this. I know it’s the right thing, but who knows if he wants to hear it from me. Then again, it’ll be a relief, and maybe it will start the conversation of him forgiving me. I shouldn’t have such high hopes, but I needed something to hold onto.

“Chase?” I asked. His back was turned to me, so he didn’t see me approaching. He turned around, and his friends went silent. I didn’t wait for him to say anything. I just start blurting words out.
