Chapter 66: A Beach Surprise

I unrolled the beach blanket on the side with minimal difficulty. It was a tad chilly, but the sun was still out. Easter was just days away, and we wanted to do something different.

The sand was the perfect temperature. My feet weren't cold or burning up. I loved the feel of it between my toes but hated when it got in any other place.

Chase took off his shoes and placed them next to mine. They were so much larger than my shoes. It looked like I had child-sized feet. A seagull landed about ten feet away from our spot. When it realized there was no food, it flew away.

"Why are we collecting shells?" Chase asked me as I set the rest of the stuff down and picked up two jars.

"Because they are beautiful and unique," I said cheerfully as I handed him one of the jars. He looked in them and shrugged.

"That's enough for me," he said and started to look around in the sand. The waves were moving pretty fast, so I anticipated we would need to quickly find the perfect shells.
