"No!" I said, my face still buried in her neck. "I don't care what they think! I don't care what will happen! All I want is you."

I walked down the halls to grab my books. My mind was racing with thoughts about the meeting this morning. I could not believe the way Mark Stevens behaved. He always acted so superior to everyone else around him. I knew he was a gifted leader, but he was no more gifted than my father. 


I watched some of the kids pass me in the hall for a moment. Then, I noticed Carol as she walked briskly towards gym class. I did not know her well, but I did notice how her parents interacted at the meeting this morning. I supposed she was pretty cool. I know Ariana was very close to her and spent a lot of time with her. 


I knew a few half-breeds in our school, kids with mixed lineages, with one parent part of each pack. Some of them had enemy pack parents, while others had one neutral and one fighting pack member. Either way, it left their kids in sort of a volatile situation. I could not imagine ever putting a child through that by marrying an enemy pack member.
