"Please, don't go," I whispered as I started kissing her neck once again.

She caressed my head but started saying the reasons why she knew it was wrong.

"We can't do this, Triton," she told me. "It is killing us, and it is destroying our families. Imagine how the pack would react if they were to discover us here? If they discovered that you were in the woods with me, kissing and caressing? As much as I love you and as much as we are mates, we are also enemies, Triton."

"No!" I said, my face still buried in her neck. "I don't care what they think! I don't care what will happen! All I want is you."

I awoke with my head still hanging between my knees. I heard movements all around me. It was daytime now. I saw the sun just barely breaking through the trees overhead. I realized that not only was my family probably wondering where on earth I was, but the enemy pack could have found me. 


I wanted to jump up, morph, and start to run away. But, I resisted my urge. I stayed perfectly still. But then I smelled my pack's scent. I stood up to look out into the forest. I saw Alex and several others of my pack in wolf form not far away. I called out to them. Alex's ear perked, and he shifted his pack to move towards my location.


When they got to me, Alex gestured for me to shift as well. I hid behind the tree and morphed and carried my clothes in my mouth. Moving through the forest was much easier to navigate as a wolf than it was as a human. But, it still took the other members of my pack a good hour and a half and me to get out of the forest.
