Behind the Scenes 2

(3rd Person POV)

Before the playboy ruler of Inazuma left, he tasked his wife to meet a certain someone for some assistance in a matter.

"Miko? Are you there?" Ei asked aloud, in the now desolate Narukami Shrine.

Though there were still a few shrine maidens doing their patrol, most of them were already dismissed for the night.

"Right here, Ei. Come inside." A familiar voice gave the signal to go on.

...

..

.

Beneath the shrine was a portal that led to a secluded space. In which the former Electro Archon Baal, Makoto's remaining consciousness after the disaster was preserved.

It was supposed to disappear once it fulfilled it's purpose, but Raiden Lu made it a permanent secret meeting spot for their own use since he had the power to...

"You reek of happiness, Ei. Is flaunting it to others really necessary?" The Guuji questioned in envy.

"Oh my~! I seem to find no reason on why I should hide it." Ei smirked victoriously.

"The nerve of you two... Here I am, still frantic on what to prepare for our date while he's just having fun with no care at all." Yae were a bit mad... just a bit.

"Didn't you already accept this inevitable outcome? Besides, I'm sure he would enjoy your company no matter how you dress." The kitsune only kept silent.

"Alright... I'll help you pick what he prefers. But hear me out first, I didn't barge in here without any reason." The archon sighed.

"Go on..."

"Husband wants you to lend some assistance for a young detective named Shikanoin Heizou. He was investigating something important apparently." Ei stated.

"Makoto already went to the Yashiro Commission to inform them to do the same. While the entirety of the Tenryou Commission is occupied with something else..." She reasoned.

"... A clean up operarion, huh? Sure, I'm in. This would be a piece of cake." The Guuji accepted with a smile.

"Now, as per our agreement. Anything interesting that happened lately?" Yae slyly smirked.

"Hmm, let me think... Right! Just recently, husband took an interest towards that Snezhnayan Puppet. Basing from what I know about him, he's most likely trying to get in contact with its creator."

"That's certainly interesting... But there's really nothing I gain from knowing that. Thanks as usual." The kitsune expressed her gratitude.

"You're welcome... Makoto is also planning something, but I can't really fathom what it is." Ei grimly laughed at the sheer difference in their intellect.

It compensates for the twin's gap of strength, that's for sure...

...

..

.

"Lu really does have it hard, Fufu~. Not only does he have a somewhat bad reputation in Inazuma, he's always stuck in his office to work... I'll bring him a gift for our date to cheer him up~." Yae giggled at the deity's misery.

"... Something wrong, Ei?" She only stopped laughing after she noticed her guest distracted by something else.

"My view of Inazuma is hazy... I can't see it properly." The archon stated seriously.

"What's that look for? Isn't it just Lu with his usual tricks?" The kitsune reasoned.

"He left Inazuma after visiting the Adventurer's Guild, so it should be someone else..." Ei murmured.

"Really? Then what are you spacing out for? We should immediately investigate this anomaly." Yae beckoned for her to hurry.

"Wait! Husband made a barrier around the archipelago, so he would inform me if there's an intruder from the outside."

"In other words, the problem arised from the inside. Any ideas?" The Guuji shared her thoughts.

"... The Oni Tribe. There should be no other possible answer."

...

The two ladies left swiftly after determining their destination. Who would cause such a ruckus in the current Inazuma just because Raiden Lu left?...

"Where are we headed, Ei?" A cute fox quered as it took refuge in the currently zooming archon's arms. Naturally, it was none other than Yae Miko.

"Our neighboring Island, Kannazuka. Unlike the tengus who decided to reside in Narukami, Onis are free-willed creatures. So husband stationed them at the island he guarded in the past, Kannazuka." Ei explained.

"I see... Yet it didn't stop them from causing trouble~." Yae remarked.

...

The night sky trembled, and lightning flashed as the two made it there at an unimaginable speed. But what they received, was an absurd scenery of a welcome...

"It reeks of alcohol... You should change forms, Miko. Your sensitive sense of smell might not be able to take it." The Raiden Shogun advised as they slowly dropped down into the ground.

"!!! We should hurry, Ei. A strong scent of blood is coming from the chief's abode." Yae rejected her advice, and instead used it to detect where the smell is coming from.

"There." Ei nodded, and blitzed to the place.

...

..

.

Other than a few drunk onis, everything seemed normal in the village. Yet Ei couldn't remove the bad feeling she was getting, and simply moved faster.

...

"Who's there? Name yourself!" The Raiden Shogun used electro to brighten up the dark abode.

She readied her blade after seeing a huge silhouette, but it was for naught as the shadowy figure quickly left the scene.

"Shinobu?" Yae gasped, and immediately assessed the situation of the bloody former shrine maiden.

"... How is she, Miko?" Ei softly asked in a weakened voice, not knowing what to relay on his husband if something were to happen to one of his students.

"... She's fine. It's not her own blood, fortunately. She simply lost consciousness." The two sighed in unison.

"You should follow the unknown figure, Ei. I'll go back to inform the others."

"Besides, only you could stop a certain someone from rampaging once more." The kitsune hinted.

"Chiyo... You're right. Knowing her, she probably detected that something is wrong already. Adding the fact that it happened in the Oni Tribe will only make it worse..." The archon lamented.

"I casted a few healing spells just in case, but Shinobu should be completely fine. If not, she was even healthier, judging from what I've noticed. I'll be back with reinforcements, Ei... So don't do anything rash." The two exchanged one last eye contact, before Yae Miko left.

"A problem occurred, milord." Yoshitsune said, after getting informed by a stationed tengu.

"I know..." The Commissioner replied with closed eyes.

"Should we dispatch-

"No need. Everything is under control. We should focus on the task father gave me." Reizenbou ordered.

"𝘔𝘺 𝘈𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦... 𝘐'𝘥 𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘨𝘰..." She thought, as she scanned the current list of vision holders in the army.
